I watched the entire first quarter and already after that I felt sick..For those of us who didn't see the game, was it the whole team that played horrible or certain players?
after that I turned to Serbia - Montenegro and the second and third quarter watched only sporadicly.. fourth one I watched entirely again..
team as a whole played horrible, but some players should have never been called in the first place.. like for example Stipčević, he is a lost case.. everytime he had a ball in his hands I wanted to puke..
team is disorganized, poor in attack and even poorer in defence. the fact that Cyprus managed to outrebound us is a shocker and it describes our game the best.
no ball movement at all in offence, when Cyprus was able to organize their defence we would just be jacking threes or shots from outside without even trying to put the ball down low to our bigs.. there were maybe one or two plays which were properly set in the entire game..
most of our points were easy layups after counter attacks..
in defence, in couple of occasions we looked like high school team (croatian high school team, not NCAA)..
if it was a serious team we were playing we would have lost the game. and I really mean it..
this looked even worse then Cibona when Repeša took over.. atleast in Cibona he brought El-Amin and Wright.. here he doesn't have that option and needs to set some team play with what he has.. this summer will be a perfect opportunity for him to see that some players aren't and will never be a NT material.
atleast not for a NT which is looking to go back to top spots anyway..
not to the medal holders though, I think we should all come back to reality and realize we don't have a talent for that.. not anymore..
the only thing that can maybe take us there is hard work, defence with bloody knees and well orchestrated team play..
the only good thing about this team is Repeša, if anyone can pull out the best from our basketball it is him..
btw. I don't know how many of you are watching and following other team sports..
but, if our waterpolo federation managed to make Ratko Rudić (the world's best coach) as their professional coach for 9 year now then we really need to wonder even if in basketball that is not a everyday thing to have a coach who is only a NT coach..
