what is really strange, is that he didnt take a single timeout... it is either a mistake by the livescoring or he doesnt care at all ...

I don't saw the game yesterday and i don't want be hard with Puerto Rico

but i hope see Dominician Republic plays a real basketball today, i don't want see my Brazil fights with dead dog, i think they won't played what they can do.

for me, RD, BRA and PUR are in the second unit of tournament... Canada maybe can fight, they have a great defense. ;)

At least Dominicans put up good fight this time, and coach even called some timeouts. But 71 ppg and 14 3-pointers attempted per game will not make cut.

Brazil started like vs Canada, opened 9-1 lead. But Dominicans turned things around and led by 13-18 at end of Q1 and 19-25 early in Q2. However, Brazil made partial score 22-5 to lead 41-30 at HT. DR made it a game again, only 52-48 at start of Q4 and only 58-53 with 6 minutes to go. Then Brazil had decisive 7-0 run for 65-53 lead. Until end Dominicans only made loss more acceptable -6, 70-64.

In other game, Canada was doing fine until 47-45 score in 3rd quarter. Then Ricans made 14-0 run for 16 points lead. Game over.
For Puerto Rico played Santiago, but Balkman did not.

wooow

what a big game guys... was a friendly match??? I don't think so...

great game to Dominician and Brazil

Splitter was terrible in free throw line (2-12), hope he get better in next days, if he converts at least 50% we could won by a 10 point more margin.

Brazil 89 x 79 P.Rico

Brazil controlled most of the match. The 19's years-old Rafael Luz and Augusto Lima led Brazil with a good defense and energy, frustating JJ Barea, who is a really selfish player, attempts to score.

MVP of the Cup - Marquinhos Vinicius(Brazil)

Canada vs Dominican Republic 62-64

15-17, 11-22 (26-39), 17-15 (43-54), 19-10

Dominicans led 60-50, then almost chocked.

Despite Horford resting for Dominicans it was something like 10-30 in points in the paint. Canada rested one NBA player too, Rautins ... but yeah, that is not comparable.
In absence of Horford Jack Martinez was man of the match with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists.
Francisko Garcia scored 18 points with 7/10 for 2 points, but missed 5 of 6 three points assists, had 6 turnovers (to go with zero assists and zero rebounds) and majority of his points came in 1ist quarter (11) when he was unstoppable.
Villanueva 6 pts on 2/10 shooting, he too kind of disappeared in 2nd half.
Carl English nice game for Canada, 18 pts, 5 rebounds, 4 three-pointers, 3 assists and 2 steals, though 6/16 FG only.

Brazil vs Puerto Rico 89-79

27-18, 16-25 (43-43), 22-14 (65-57), 24-22

Arroyo out for PUR, but Balkman in.

At 52-54 in Q3 Brazil made 13-1 for 65-55 lead.

4 AM here, gotta go sleeping.

The problem with barea is that he doesn't trust the other players, and thinks that he needs to take over the game...he needs to have more control and pass the f'n ball!, that's why i prefer arroyo because he is more suited to fiba and play's better.

First congratulations to Brazil for a third Tuto win.

My thoughts on the four teams.

Brazil- great team. The teams they make without their NBA look almost better than the teams WITH their NBA. Only Splitter and Nene are truly needed (Varejao if you want to rely more on defense than offense). Barbosa is probably on the past prime end of his career so its nice to see Brazil perform so well without him. Most impressive performance in this tournament was against Canada in the first game, when they took Canada out by the end of the first quarter.

Puerto Rico- great team. Shame they never played this tournament as a whole, but still managed to take second place for a second straight year. Without Vasallo, Ramos and Peavy, it was nice to see them pass the ball to each other looking for the open man, rather than try to individually beat the opposing team. Of course Barea still needs to be reminded hes not in Dllas anymore, but if their best performance of the tournament against the Dominican Republic proved something, its that with Arroyo as pg he might settle down.

Dominican Republic- Still need to solve some things to be a great team. Mainly their team play, they are playing to 70% of where they should be. Jack Michael specifically proves time and time again he is DR's best player, at least in the stats department. They have the players to do great things, they just have to mantain the patience and work ethic to get where they want to be. Best performance was indeed against Brazil, where even in a loss, they played Brazil the toughest out of all their rivals.

Canada- This team time and time again dissapoints me. I keep thinking they have a great future, they definetly have the right program, and the team plays like one, but what keeps them from the next level is some star power like Steve Nash. Right now I see them as a C level US team. A bunch of role players who need a star player (preferably a pg) who can take the to the championship. Until then they might keep repeating the 2009 Fiba Americas performance, where they are the best team at crushing weak teams, but fail to even contest a game against the best. Best performance here was against DR, hwere they proved they can be dangerous in close games, and dont quit until the game ends.

lets hope we can keep the same level of playing during the championship.

Until Canada fires Leo Rautins, they will continue to suck. There are now seven Canadians in the NBA, yet only three play for the national team, and one of them is Leo's son. Over the past two years he is now 4-17 over the last twenty two games and that includes losses to noted basketball powerhouses Finland, Bulgaria, Macedonia and the Czech Republic. Within the past two months, Leo has set two records; largest margin of defeat, 62 points to France and least amount of points in a quarter, 4 to Brazil in this very tournament. Leo Rautins must be fired for Canada to progress as a team.

Yes, he will have to learn how to trust his teammates. He is a great player, can score in many situtations, but on a bad day or when they are playing good defense on him, he can loose a game if he keeps this attitude.

P.Rico,Brazil and Dom.Republic will fight for the olympic spot, with Canada trying to surprise(talent they have, they just can't play like a team the whole game, many ups and downs), and maaybe qualify. Uruguay is always a dangerous team.
