So bearing all reports are true we have Tui and Douhit with the exception of Aguilar are the remnants of our National team.. just hope SBP could fry out some of the best collegiate players in and out of the country to play with our national team soon and the Looks of it or sad part we are back to Zero again..

Question now is, will these 7 Gilas players push thru w/ their intentions to turn pro or not? They have until 5pm, 8/26 to withdraw.

Moment of truth: all the gilas players are joining the draft... Except chris tiu.

FireQuinito
Casio, Lee lead 2011 PBA draft hopefuls

hmmm....some poster said that a smiley face icon from CharlesTiu would be good news....from his recent twit it doesn't look promising. Everything is still up in the air. They might be waiting for the contract extension proposal from SBP.

So the threat of the PBA gov re banning draftees who back out might just come into play in this one. If this happens, one likely but unfortunate scenario pops out.

---Will the Gilas players joining the draft risk a lifetime ban from the PBA and commit to 2 more years with GILAS? What happens after if their contract won't be renewed after 2013 because of circumstances like the end of the RP team program?

Things to really think about. and I don't think this happening now will help our slim chances in Wuhan....and recent comments about 2013 Fiba worlds qualification being another goal, let's hope this RP team won't go into Wuhan not giving their best

---Your thoughts sir NArdy? IBN forum this side of the globe would really need your inputs just to clear up the confusion

To Mods:

I'm just confused, I have been reading posts about some Smart Gilas players joining PBA draft this year in this thread and also at Phil. National Team 2011 topic. Absolutely dual thread.

The threat of the PBA of a lifetime ban was something so serious that could not be ignored. The extension of the program was for only two more years, again there is an uncertainty on what happens after that if they are indeed barred from joining the PBA ever.

Then the SMART Management took such a long time before they formally informed the players what are their future plans about the program and what is their offer.

These players are not as well-off like Chris Tiu who is capable of walking away from the PBA and still live a comfortable and luxurious life.

The players were pushed on the wall with limited options and they are pressed by time to decide by 5pm today.

If the Gilas players get drafted does it automatically mean they can't play for Smart Gilas anymore?

Oh, boss MVP, please give these players contracts they wouldn't refuse.:D National Team muna!

MVP to the rescue again! hehehe well can't blame him if he would lessen his involvement this time around...a man's pocket has its limits.

I think this would depend on the intentions of other new players....if there are a lot of new guys coming in which would help shore up our future NT--- because PBA would not help--- then I think only the core will be retained: And IMO they are Douthit, Tiu, Casio, Lassiter, Lutz...aguilar is a no brainer since he is with TNT...but again it all depends on the new players coming in.

I expect new faces with the RP NT program next year with reinforcements from MVP PBA teams

The Tius are well-off on the outside. But nobody really knows the true story of these prominent families.

SM MOA for one has been a headache for the Sy's. I heard even the monthly revenues isn't enough to pay for the loan. :p

...and should the PBA still not cooperate with SBP in the future, then I hope TNT wins the Grand Slam because if this happens, expect MVP to lend more players to the NT...getting a grand slam in the PBA is the ultimate prize for the owner. In a sense MVP doesn't have to prove anything more as a team owner.

So lending his players to RP team would be no problem at all...unless the PBA board again decides otherwise

technically no, if theyre lucky they might end up in an MVP team. And could still continue to be a full time NT member. I believe this situation was best described by James Yap."I want to join as well, but my "team" needs me".

People now managing Gilas prog are doing it all wrong. They have no idea on what they're doing. Money was never d motivation to join Gilas.

OUCH!! SBP.. Now we have a drama and major distraction entering wuhan?

Well I think their family owning Discovery Suites, Discovery Shores, Sterling Bank, I-Remit, Surewell Equities, TKC Steel, The Mansion Group, JTKC Land and several other more businesses could provide adequate financial stability at present time. Chris Tiu also personally own a Specialized Refreshment Bar then there is his TV Hosting Job with TV5 and GMA7, he is also a sought after Commercial Ad and Ramp Model plus with his double-degree with Ateneo he is also is a Part-Professor at the same school. And he also gets paid by the government as a Barangay Kagawad. Ohh I almost forgot, the Tiu family have a considerable large number of shares at Tagaytay Highlands.

By the way Chris Tiu a sizeable amount of his earnings to his Foundation and his favorite Charities as he have more than enough from his interest earnings in his stock investments, bank accounts and bonds.

and it was never his motivation too right?

*wink wink*

it's also the league's prerogative to make their rules. goes both ways. and read my post again, you might've missed something. thanks.

Nope, I haven't missed anything from your post. I agree that it is the PBA's prerogative to make their own rules, no matter how absurd and selfish it is.;)
