2010 NBA Europe Live

Barca's play was out of sync, they had difficulties adjusting to the 3pt distance both in terms of shooting the ball and floor spacing on offense and defense. Far from the machine they are under the rules they're used to. Pretty ugly game, good effort from both teams though. Any appropriate comment on the refereeing performance would violate forum rules. Good for the Lakers, would have been a blowout.

Guys like Mickeal are very fine, efficient players. Of course scouting well and designing a system that plays not only to one or two, but six or seven of your players' strengths is a key here.

congratulations to Barca
great win for them and for europe as well

But these show games with mixed rules and mixed referees, if never understood the fuss about the a couple of years ago, and it's only consequent that nobody is really interested today.

Those friendlies are interesting only when a euroleague team wins. Then their results are a proof of the closing gap between nba and euroleague. But when NBA/d league teams trash their european opponents they suddenly turn into meaningless games noone gives a toss about.

me being prophetic a year ago after Jazz-Madrid game.

Barca is not an NBA team, If it was 4 players in the above play would have shot the ball.

Now seriously this was a friendly game and i enjoyed it as much as last years olympiakos games. they don't really matter at all. It is nice to see European teams win because they usually are the underdog.

Funny, Koncak. Funny that you took a small passage from a long post (five times the post compared to today's) and didn't even realize that the passage doesn't stand in conflict with what I wrote here. Desperate. :p

It does stand in conflict because obviously it was an interesting enough game for you to write a post about it and bitch about the referees(in your own smart and sophisticated way of course unlike Test or Spanoulis 666 aka"Stern paid the refs" or "those Nba players dope and would sell hamburgers otherwise")

I had a much longer post in the Real vs. Jazz thread, but I'm not going to start an argument about this, way off topic.

Officiating spoke for itself, no more words needed. Everyone saw it. Kind of wasted energy to try to clean this friendly result off of all factors (preparation time => <= rules, referees), everyone can make his own world.

OK, explain this to me.

How a win of Barcelona versus the NBA champions in an exhibition match proves that Barca cannot compete in NBA or it would have 10 wins or it would break Sixers record??

Barca wasn't blown by 50 points. Barca won (yeah, even in a friendly match)

nothing to explain here pal;) Just the same typical ignorance and arrogance we've accustomed to from the other side of the ocean. You know - America > The World mentality:cool:

.

If it was an Nba team the cutter(Sada) would have the hops to at least lift his feet off the ground and finish an easy lay up.;)

Two years at Cincinnati make him an Ohio boy? You're going to have to fight Illinois for him.
He only played two years? Man, I thought he was like a red shirt freshman or something. Huh. Well, yeah, he's still one of us. :D

Yes, Barca is very close to being a good NBA team. Yes, right now they are probably better than a lot of NBA teams.

Yes, the difference between the good EL team and the average NBA team is very small. Yes, the difference between the good EL player and the average NBA player is even smaller.

If NBA teams cared more about getting the best available players (see Milwaukee, Miami, Boston) and less about getting players who have potential (however distant) (see Charlotte, Sacramento, New Jersey), the NBA would be much better.

It's also about money. Yes, those Barca players are better than most NBA bench players, but NBA teams can't afford them. No big deal.

Is the NBA better than the EL? If we had a round-robin tournament, I think the NBA would win. If we had a single-elimination tournament, I think the NBA would win, but an EL team might be able to squeak in. It's just like the Olympics. I think the US is generally better than other teams, but any team can beat the US. No big deal.

They don't have enough talent to compete in
NBA level. There's not a single player in
Barcelona that you need to double team. It won't take a while before they get figure out
and once they do, they will get exposed . In
FIBA type of game they can clog the lane but in NBA spacing is very important.
The Lakers barely run their offense and probably played the worst game that I could think of. They were playing laisse faire kind of offense where Gasol and Kobe wanted to put a show. I think at the end the end they wanted to win the game but their legs are out of it.
Give credit to Barcelona, these guys can compete on exhibition game. I remember the Clippers beat them before. I think they really wanted to win this game to prove that they can compete. But make no mistake they will not win 9 games in NBA especially with Navarro as your best player and obscure guys like Mickael and Morris as your key players and their bigs can't make plays.

Yes but in Europe we love the show so you saw what you saw! It would be boring to lay up!:P

OK, they don't have a player that needs a double team. So what? This is not an argument. Basketball is not an 1on1 game. Do you think that any of Serbia 2002 team needed a double team? No. But USA lost.

Also, for Navarro, although I don't like him, I seriously doubt that there are many shooters like him in the NBA.

I didn't say that Barca would win the NBA title, but, on the other hand, declaring that they are not able to win 9 games out of 82 is just arrogant.

In overall, if the NBA champions lose from a team with not enough talent (as you say), then poor NBA...

So what? That means that EVERY SINGLE SHOT of Spain's would be contested. You know how hard it would be to beat an NBA team like that?

And can you stop saying, "NBA champions" as if it means something in the preseason?

With your logic, yesterday, every single shot was contested. So what? I think that through plays, Barca had more open shots than Lakers. And they just went in. So simple, not so hard.

And it means that 3 months ago they were the best team of NBA, doesn't it?

Once again, it comes down to effort.

I mean, are we ready to declare the Minnesota Timberwolves the best team in the world?

First off all, I never said that Barca is the best team in the world.

Second, in your opinion it is of the same value to beat New Jersey Nets and LA Lakers?

1. You certainly seem to pushing for that since you keep saying, "NBA champions".

2. In the preseason? Neither means much.

Last preseason, the Knicks beat both the Nets AND the Celtics. And they beat the latter more convincingly.
