what's 2 months compared to 20 months?

they now know the system by heart and they're following it diligently...

the problem is, that's not their style, that's not the pinoy's style

you take away the pinoy baller's creativity and you lose our greatest strength in basketball

Barocca has bee given the license to create for himself, even now. You can clearly see it once he gets the ball. I don't know what your saying he's being limited by the system, more of he's being limited by the opponents defense.

Tell me, what's Pinoy style for you? Is it the bara-bara moves, create-for-yourself-system of Yeng Guiao? ahh Pinoy baller's creativity daw, it's the same moves I'm seeing on those Taiwanese, Japanese, Koreans, Chinese, Iranian players.

Gilas players needs to have a mixture of both. The system is there, it's already up to the players to know when to create for themselves. Watching the Iranian players, they know when to go with the system, and they know when to slash/go hard/create situations. And for all we know, they have the same system. They play the same way like they did when they were with Toroman.

Yun ang wala sa players natin now, I always see Tiu/Casio shoot a three ball, but rarely attempt a layup when there's an opportunity. But I would rather think this is because of the opposing defense, that, we need to solve.

the system now is the star.

ever wondered why our players become hesitant to make moves they'd normally do and hesistant to take make-able shots just because it did not come from a play?

still remains to be seen if the system is the culprit. I still think its our physical limitations...

I will reserve my judgment on the coach only after Asian games.

But I am not betting on us winning a medal in the Asiad unless we will be able to get bigger players.

Good time for the coaching staff to assess our strengths and weaknesses...I hope they will be able to solve our defensive weaknesses(Height against west asia teams/ speed against east asia teams)

Overall a good tournament for RP team to learn from. They showed poise and maturity under pressure situations

One can actually freelance with Toro's system. They play mostly pick and rolls. Even in the PBA you see teams executing this possession after possession.

I'm gonna go with this rather than that eyesore offense of our previous NTs.

did you just know that you showcased a special ability called "mind reading"?

how did you do that? you just read the pba's mind bro!

not only mind reading i think hes also doing fortune telling!

chris banchero in the pba? i guess hes a seer!:D

Truthfully, I would rather have them play controlled basketball

it's like asking korean players not to shoot 3pointers. :D

truthfully, we need a coach that will enhance and complement our style of basketball.

yeah you are right my friend, toroman encourage free lancing on his system and he shows hes outmost support by shouting encouragement and benching his player so he can have a long rest if they try to free lance out of the system.

It's because of the other team's defense?

AFAIK, Toroman is preaching to his players that they can shoot anywhere on the court, as long as they can make it. Rather than sticking to a three or just drive to the basket plays(which is you can clearly see on Pinoy ballers, mostly in the PBA).

so whats the connection of your post to the thread entitled " smart gilas at the 32nd william jones cup"

if you can label posters as wannabes, histrionics, know it alls etc, what can you label your irrelevant posting/post?

well my bad, i should have created a new thread instead, but that might inflame those people that i'm talking about so i just tried to post a simple observation here on this thread. it's just that everytime i visit this site to check about updates i usually get stressed because of those people. lol :D

sarcastic.. but tumpak ;)

parang gustong lumipad ni japwet pero takot na takot cya... ;)

people doubting toromans coaching should be doubtful of their sanity
toroman = iran ---> asian champs haddadi---> nba
iran = a country where basketball is only as popular as patintero

who? Chris Banchero? Ryan Reyes? Joey Deas the PBA won't cooperate so it's useless talking about contingency plans involving PBA players outside TnT. we're stuck with players in the pool.

everyone notices that this team tries to outscore their opponents in a shoot-out. if their outside shots don't fall, Douthit gets his garbage points from offensive rebounds... if he doesn't get his rebounds, nothing else works.

for some shitty reason, i'm hoping that the Meralco expansion team gets quality players who can be loaned to Gilas the same way its a possibility to loan TnT players to Gilas.

agree! this team relies on shooting so if their outside shots wont work they will always have difficult time winning..if you observed the lineup no can really slash to the basket strongly..no inside pressence also without douhit although greg is improving, other than that no one else..

the bottomline is, Japeth acts like this whether it be Toroman or Guiao handling him.

Asiad is just around the corner, with our current line up it seems that significant development is not attainable.

Additional players from the PBA is a necessity, SBP should act now.:(

Oh get your panties up.. Just stick to buhay pinoy in PEX where you will be more appreciated. Everybody here thinks you are an idiot. With your post that are not even related to the topic.. I mean showbiz, politics. Ang baduy mo dong. Bading ka ba??

what now my friend im trying to support you all the way, why can't i make anything right in your eyes?

by the way how did you know i was bading? uyyyyyy siguro ka sister kita halata naman sa username mo na masyadong insecure! aminin!!:D

Eto nga ang pilit na inaalis sa mentality ng mga ballers natin. Our style of basketball is only applicable for gifted, athletic, big players like those of NBA superstars. Babalik na naman ba tayo sa umpisa?

The Korean style basketball works for them INTERNATIONALLY. Can we say the same thing for our ballers' style??

Yeah but even their 3 point shots were coming out of set plays. Its not like they were just shooting the ball.

Unless you can find a pinoy version of Lebron who is 6'7 and has 6-8 inches vertical leap, with an accurate jumper then sure, why not?

Its hard to be creative when you have player who is 4 inches taller, 20lbs bigger guarding you.

i have psychic googling powers that happens to remember this:
Trillo wants PBA to follow stricter trade rules and this: Barrios: PBA board will decide on Williams’ trade.

logic dictates that it's bad enough for the PBA to have Williams and Reyes playing for Smart Gilas, what more when it's any other PBA supahstah?

last time i checked the pba provided national teams in 2007 and 2009 not counting the 2002 team... also, if you havent heard in the news, barrios was trying to learn from the kbl and jbl how they're pro's were able to coincide their schedules with international events

plus, many pba fans believe the need for stricter trade rules not because they hate smart gilas but coz of lopsided trades happening where supahstars are pooled in rich teams like san miguel, ginebra and talkntext...

I believe that gilas has the system and talent, but is this system of coach toroman fits for our pinoy basketball style?
