Lebanon will host 2011 Asian Championship

The president of the FLBB Mr. Barakat and other sources denied this . this was just a rumor, and you can find it on lebanese-goals i guess which is just a football site it isnt pro or reliable ... but you know rumors spread easily in lebanon

eno way long ago it was decided that Lebanon will host both Stankovic and Asia 2011 and ppl around tried to deny this .......

1st thing already achieved... --> 3rd Stankovic cup Beirut 2010

2nd attraction which all the media, along with Fiba itself of course, are always mentioning that Lebanon will host the next Fiba Asia... whether the crowd acted in a rude way or whether there is any other silly ciritic or comment from silly ppl, crowds and fans act crazy in any spot of the world in any kind of sports, and wat happened in Lebanon - Syria game was nthg!! and its a very normal act to c from any crowd!!

the decision was made and the place is decided, all there is now is to live one year and wait for the --> Fiba Asia Beirut 2011

Yes the organization was not at the best , the reason is that the federation hasnt had time to prepare it , except 2 weeks and they werent enough !

I want to give credits to Georges Barakat and Fadi Tabet cz they worked very very hard for this.

Stankovic cup this year was the most successfull for a tournament considered secondary :

- 3 TVs were broadcasting the tournament (Al Jazeera , LBC , Al kass TV)
- the competition was by far the best from the 2 previous editions.
- the audience was perfect with the Lebanese and Filippino fans.
- the participation of the Lebanese president in the finals .
- the teams were put in one of the best hotels in Lebanon (5 stars) although the Lebanese federation wanted to move the teams to Jounieh (another 5 stars hotel) but Fiba Asia insisted to keep them in Beirut - Hamra!

they can't ask for better hosting for such a secondary cup , in Lebanon this tournament has gotten a great importance , if it was somewhere else , you wouldn't heard of like the previous editions.

I really hope all the rumours are false but there are some issues we need to consider for hosting the FIBA 2011 Asian Championship.

1) Some of the courts need to be fixed and have a better maintenance (example more A/C should be installed, the parquet of the court needs to be changed, maybe expanding a few of our stadiums to accomodate more people, etc..)
2) Facilities in terms of parking space outside the stadium
3) The roads in Lebanon should be fixed. Yeah right!!

he didn't say it on in an artical or on this forum. he said it on lebanese basketball group on fb before making the interview with the flb president.


I hope that the event will be hosted in a bigger arena like pierre gemayel or champville .

first of all i didnt put anything concerning this issue on any of the websites , all what i did is that i wrote on a facebook grp that so far theres a possibility to move the Asian championship from Lebanon . But now , there's new things that the Fiba Asia is taking into considerations.

Btw , i hate when people are just waiting me to make any "faux pas" to point it out.

FIBA shouldn't allow the same country to host 2 consecutive events like the Asian Championship in the same country no matter what are the circumstances.

halla2 to be honest....there was some gaps in the stankovic orginzation...starting from the arena's readiness to the media covering the event...
eventhough i love my country and i love everything related to it, but we couldve done much better for this stankovic, to prove that we are capable of hosting such an event...
1- Ghazir stadium was so hot inside, the court was so slippery, as we noticed in all the games, players were slipping al the times! <-- this couldve been solved right before the start of the event... ma badda shi, shwayyit maintenance for the court...like better ACs, new parquet floor...

2- LBC should work harder on the games directing and the statistical reviews and infos during the games....

anyways im so sure that whenever we want to achieve something, Lebanon can make it no matter what !! coz we are a serious and stubborn people!!
so i wish the Fiba Asia 2011 remains to Lebanon as i have a full confidence that we r capable to host it,specially if we had the right push/sponsorships.

no one criticized him man !! it was a simple remark, and knowing the fact of his young age, it was an encouragement for him !!
Dani is the major vein in this forum, as i said before! im one of his followers, and like i said, most of the infos we r getting, are from his research and connections !!

I really do hope that 2011 Hosting rights will still be in Lebanon. Its totally unfair, especially to you guys, if China suddenly gets to host.
