who do you think guys was/is a better player/prospect?

Ryan Buenafe or Kiefer Ravena? I know they both played different positions but Isn't we tagged Ryan as the Savior of Philippine Basketball too?

Let's put it this way: If Buenafe was in shape, he'd still be in Gilas :p:p:p

and now a Finals MVP :D

In order to stay eligible for UAAP competitions, Ateneo team management forbade Ryan from playing in any tournament and attending basketball practice.

That where the STUDENT part of the student-athlete equation comes in. People tend to lose sight of the fact that they're students first and athletes second.

More than anything else, Ateneo prides itself in the graduation rate of its players.

The oldest FIBA-Asia U18 championship that is to be dropped-out is the 2006 edition held at Urumqi, China in order for the above FIBA Ranking to be recalculated.

So from the previous #10 rank in FIBA-Asia, the Philippines has now risen to rank #7

I'm quite confused with the rankings. I just browsed the FIBA World Rankings and we rankied #53 with 5.4 points. In terms of Asia, we're number 12. Is the rankings for Boys diferent from Men?

Thanks. :)

sir may i ask did Jobe Nkemakolam graduate? where is he now?

Jobe

Jobe

Yes, Jobe graduated. He was at game 2 of the finals with his wife.

He is now involved in the gallery/art business. He markets the work of various painters to the many high net-worth individuals he made connections with during his playing years. I think that towards the end of his college playing days he lost a bit of focus on his playing, and was not able to parlay his potentials into a pro career. Sayang.

Good thing new dad Jobe has his acquired skills and training to go along with his hard-earned Ateneo degree. Seems to be doing fine for a new grad.

Ryan being out of shape turns out to be a blessing. He made Exciminiano and Cawaling look like totoys. Hopefully next year those fats turn into muscle.

he's not that quick as a player but his basketball IQ is really something. I want to see next year Kiefer, Ryan, and Kirk Long all together in the court.

Yes now the rankings for Men, Women, Boys and Girls are done differently.

Here is the FIBA World Ranking of the Philippines as per the FIBA website:

MEN #53 7.5 points (#12 in FIBA-Asia)
WOMEN #50 8.4 points (#11 in FIBA-Asia)
BOYS #43 8.1 points (#10 in FIBA-Asia)
GIRLS #44 9.9 points (#9 in FIBA-Asia)
COMBINED COUNTRY (MEN/WOMEN/BOYS/GIRLS) #54 33.9points (#11 in FIBA-Asia)

The earlier rankings I posted is actually what should be the new rankings for Boys in FIBA-Asia after recaculations that means adding the earned points from the 2010 Sana'a tournament while deducting the earned points from the oldest U18 tournament in the past computation which is the 2006 Urumqi tournament.

What currently is in the FIBA website has not yet been re-computed. Maybe they are just awaiting the finish of the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women now in progress at the Czech Republic and they'll do all the recalculations for all listings, the Mens, Womens, Boys and Girls.

On a different note, FIBA said they'll also come out with individual ranking of players that played in the FIBA33 tournaments aside from the per country ranking.

wow. that's good to hear. :)

man...i agree with your sig..:D
it will be like that..the worst ust(ever)..i am seeing them even worse than post-Cyrus baguio & pre-pido jarencio...:o
2-3 wins..?

Man it pains me to say that.. I really hope the UST basketball program will make a 180 degree turn after next year..

Pinning their hopes on one big man??? that's insane! unless Karim Abdul plays like Kareem Abdul Jabar..

they added 1 good player while the other teams have added 5 good players..

Pido should have at least a decent supporting cast. ( assistant coaches ) They should get Bal David. :D

You mean there's a contender for UP's title of defending doormat?! Ouch, that hurts...self inflicted wound
