Billy, once again, I have some suggestions :)

1.The very same one, I already proposed: on this page add country and team to the table. This time I know the reason - I want to see who is in "my teams" and who is in others.

2. On the very same one page you should add National points table and teams point table. Why we need tree links? Make it on one page! If possible, of course!

3. Add links from this page to First page . Same goes to all other pages with scores, predictions, rules and so on... simply add "back to first page" button :D

4. I really don't want to insult Rick, Victorious, or others, who are the only representatives of their countries here, but DO THEY ALONE MAKE A TEAM ???? IMHO, there should be at least three people to make a team... On the other hand, I suggest to make a separate team for those, our honorable, but lonely in their countries bbl lovers  call it "international" or "IBN" )) Same thing should go to EL teams category. But this is even more complicated...

Dunno, what do you think about 4th proposal? actually it's really discussable

after the opening of the game and many people have objections
it seems the odd system will fail :D

Ok guys, can somebody tell me what is the benefit of the odds system?

Since you are not receiving the odds that exist the time you are making your predictions, you are just getting some random odd, so what is the point of taking risks?

I thought it was working like this, that I would get the odds that where up at the time of my predictions and I wasted 1 round, my fault that I didn't check, but still, it's a complete waste.

Why take a risk for a game when the odds are 10.000 when other people can do it too and it can go to 2.000 and you risked for nothing?

Sorry guys, idiotic system. I thought it would chence the way we play, it doesn't, it just makes results random.

Guys, I'm really short of time, so I'll make it quick

Excuses to those whose questions I missed.

First of all, "the current odds based system" is NOT random, just instead of betting against the house, we're betting against each other. See the reference here . The another name for this system is totalisator after a machine that calculates the odds.

Its main benefit of using this system is points' differentiation: for unlike win ( like Maroussi win over CSKA ) you'll get more points then for a win that most of the people expected to happen ( like CSKA win over Maroussi ).

Odds are not fixed and are subject to change till the deadtime . I didn't hear anybody calling auction system "idiotic" because the price for some item is not fixed and changes till the end. That's the system, use it or leave it.

"Odds based system" wasn't forced on anybody : it won in straightforward and fair manner by majority of voters.
You can't do anything but respect the choice of majority , like "odds based" supporters respected the majority choice a season ago.

I think I covered most of the topics here, cheers.

When I make a prediction with an odd of 7.000 and until the game the odd has gone to 2.000, the odd is random for me. I know how the odd is calculated, blablabla, but since I am not getting the odd that I made my prediction for, I am getting a random odd.

Yeah, sure, but if I make my prediction when the odd is at 10.000 and then more people think the same as me and the odd falls to 3.000, what was the point really?

Yeah, but if I make a bid on an auction at $100, nobody will tell me, you know, the auction ended at $200, you have to pay $200.

George W. Bush won the elections in USA by majority of voters, twice. Your point?

Come on! :D:rolleyes: We were not electing bush :D But in this case Billy is right. There were a test for odds based system during Eurobasket. Later there were a poll for system to use in EL, quite a long time with discussions and arguments... Despite the fact I don't like odds based thing, I must admit that this is the choice of majority...

The two systems were submitted to vote, this one won, I guess we have to live with it. I was 101% for the old system (don't really fully understand this yet), but democracy works like this and whoever doesn't like this system may decide not to play and it's it imo.

Well , i already answered this one :p It can be done, but it overloads the page with rather unessential data.

Actually, adding this feature is just two additional lines of code, so it takes more energy answering here then doing the change :p

Here is URL for accessing data you purposed: http://www.interbasket.net/euroleague/games/index.php?scores=all&details=on

I'll upload the the code with this change in a day or two.

2. On the very same one page you should add National points table and teams point table. Why we need tree links? Make it on one page! If possible, of course!

Do you mean user scores, just after it National and team scores ?
I dunno, it's a matter of taste , I prefer them be separated

3. Add links from this page to First page . Same goes to all other pages with scores, predictions, rules and so on... simply add "back to first page" button :D

Good point, I'll add the link in the header instead of a link to interbasket.net

Well, it's really discussable :p I think polling this issue in a separate thread could do the job

I know that it's kinda difficult for someone who is born and raised on fixed odds to adjust to variable ones.

Actually you can ignore current odds completely and predict wins for teams you believe will win, just like with the old system. Both systems encourage you to pick the winners, the only change that you'll get bonus points guessing underdog wins over favorite.

As you remember, I've processed the Eurobasket 2009 preds with both systems and the difference between the places there was +/- 3 places.

George W. Bush won the elections in USA by majority of voters, twice. Your point?

If you have a better method to decide on those issues, let me know :D

Glad, that you agreed, mostly:D

What I meant? - Just look at the tables, now I have quite an empty page:
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/9959/onept.jpg
And there is plenty of place to put everything on one page:
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/2817/twoumy.jpg
*data is mixed...

It's much more useful to have "all in one" ;)

Ok, got your point .

The problem that you cannot assume everybody has 1280x1024 resolution :p
Keeping in mind that web browsers eating 40-50 pixels for scroll-bars and the fact that today folks use netbooks and all kinds of gadgets to access web data, the pages must be functional ( e.g. without horizontal scrolling ) down to 800 px width :)

Hahahaha, and Panathinaikos and from Albania! Thank you... :p :D

I just copied "team" and "country" parts from user list :D

Billy, I think there should be enough space even on 800 width :) Just make it a bit more compact :)

I dunno about you , but I kinda miss arguments why we vote one way or another ....

Let's do something terrible , like forcing top5 players to comment their choices for the next round ... :D

I mean, now our points depend implicitly on the choices of others , so commenting is a powerful tool to lead a public opinion in a right way, why not to use it ?
