Our world rankings.

Ok. We know abt FIBA World rankings but i think that Fiba's point system is not fair enough and it cannot give a clear picture of the true power/history of each NT.

What is your opinion abt how it should be the real rankings?

I think that USA is the best team by far.


They should count the European Asian and American games as well. Not only Olympics and Mundobasket games, in order to see the real power of the teams.

My World ranking would be something like this according each teams last 10 years performances.

1 USA
2 ARGENTINA
3 SPAIN
4 LITHUANIA
5 RUSSIA
6 GREECE
7 GERMANY
8 FRANCE
9 SERBIA
10 SLOVENIA
11 TURKEY
12 AUSTRALIA
13 CHINA
14 ITALY

16 BRAZIL
17 PUERTO RICO
18 NEW ZEALAND
19 CANADA
20 ANGOLA
 
Going more on my personal feeling than purely historical performance I'd guess it would be something like

1. USA
2. Spain
3. Argentina
4. Greece
5. Lithuania
6. Russia
7. Slovenia
8. Croatia
9. Serbia
10. Germany
11. France
12. Australia
13. Brazil
14. China
15. Puerto Rico
 
A Greek saying the usa is ranked 1st, wow how much money did my government pay you off? thats amazing most greeks here are hostile towards us yanks

USA team is better team. The NBA players are very good athletes.
The gap between NBA and EUROPE looks like is geting smaller & smaller every year, but the NBA players are stronger. Here in Europe we have equal talent but we cant "fight" you in body structure.

Because Greece won USA as some other teams did at the past, that doesn't mean that we became better than you.

In our game GREECE VS USA you were just too ironics abt Greek team.
Before the game you didn't even know who were the Greek players. Did you watch a video of Greece to analyze my NT before the game?

Before the game the USA coach told to the players that it would be a shame to lose from GREECE. And if that would happened, what would u say to your grandchildrens after some years? That you played for the USA NT when you were young but you lost from some Greek NT?
And they all laugh !!! :eek:

Well.
You lost the game. You just realized that others can play basketball as well in this world.

One thing i dont like in USA team is their ironically behavior.
If we take this out from USA team (i think after the game with Greece you touched the ground) then we can speak abt a great team not only as a players but as persons as well.

Of course the USA team is better than all the other countries.
You were very close to lose from Spain in the finale though. :D

Dont underestimate the rest National teams of the world mate.
 
Not even the Dream team 1 and 2 had that ironic face. And by that time European basketball wasn't so strong as it is now.

But the Dream team 3 .... i dont know. They were very ironic with the rest of the teams.
After you lost from Greece that changed. I remember LEBRON JAMES speaking with very good words abt ''that some Greek NT'' as your coach say.

Now u respect the European National teams and that helped you a lot.''

So my opinion is that the USA team, if will play with all it's stars from nba the rest of the National teams have no luck.
We can make your life difficult though. The gap is closing. :)

I dont think that the white European players can fight the strong black athletic players from NBA.
Basketball game is like that it was created especially for black athletes. They are better. They do have better body structure and they jumb to the sky. :eek:

May be if EUROPE was playing with one team as USA does we would see some fantastic games.
Imagine The best European players to play for one team called EUROTEAM.

Then you would have a promblem. :D

5:Lithuania (just slightly over...)

From there it's hard to say

All time rankings

Last 4 years see controversial sig bellow (debate on FIBA world rankings thread :p)

Not only that they're stronger, but there's no country in this world that can measure with them in quantity of players, domestic and international. They purely have larger basis than any country, let alone countries like Lithuania or any other smaller EU country(Greece, Ex-Yu, Letonia...).

How come Serbia is in 9-th position and likes of Germany and France is ahead of it. Are you smoking something? And how come that Italy is on 14-th spot?
You set the standard and wrote such stupendous stuff, I'm really amazed...

Germany played in a EUROBASKET FINAL remember? France reached the SEMI-Finales. Where were u ???
The last 5 years they are better teams than SERBIA.

Of course we can change my list.

USA and Spain were clearly the best teams in the last decade, but as I said before on the other thread, I will not let someone bash on my teams results.
And one more thing, I will repeat, why on earth you put Italy on 14-th spot? You didn't give me an answer. And give me only facts, not sarcasm, please.

When the referies KILLED Lithuanians in the finale? When the referies killed Greece in semifinale?

The SERBIAN basketball had a lot of help from the referies. We all know the SERBIAN LOBBY in basket.
That's why i put u in that position. :D

So, what, I remember that final game and I remember that we were better team. Remember Đorđević?
Refs killed Greece? We killed them.And again in '98. Twice...:D And remember that we played in front of your fans. And that's not pleasant.
Sometimes refs help you, sometimes not. Like they never helped your team...
You Greeks seem to blame everyone else, rather than yourselves.
And look at Partizan, massacred every time against wealthy clubs, especially against Oly... So, what? Life goes on...
Against Argentina we had help from refs, I'm with you on that, but we payed a big price for that, look at us now.:(
That foul on Sconochini was is last second and I think that ref didn't have guts to call on that, because he thought that he will decide the match that way. After that, we won in overtime fair and square.

Again, I'm reminding you about Italy, you didn't answer my question.

First u have to make a good solid team in order to win PANATHINAIKOS in basketball.

I dont think that we are beating u so many years now (over a decade) with the help of the referies.
I DONT THINK that the 5 times EUROLEAUGE Champion needed the help of the referies in order to win OLY.

If u r so silly to keep Yiannakis as a coach dont blame the referies.
U lost 2 games cause of Yiannakis bad coaching and u know that very well.''
 
Italy, in this moment, doesn't deserve to be in any ranking... We need to re-build everything as a National Team! And to do this we need to pick the best Italian coach avaliable, the most motivated players, to keep on working on the existing breeding grounds and to create several new ones.
It will be an interesting and difficult challenge... let's see if we are willing and able.

I'm wishing you the best in the future. I hope that Italy will find a way to create some new talent and to improve it's roster. I would like to see them fighting for the medals again, because they do deserve that...
