9th FIBA U19 World Championship

  • Thread starter Thread starter Kings2
  • Start date Start date
Canada wakes up in the second half and blasts Syria 99-53. Unless Kazakhstan can do something against New Zealand it looks like the Asian teams are headed for 0-9.

Argentina defeated KAZ 98-69, we played better today but against a weaker team so....
Luciano Gonzalez led Argentina with 16 pts Nocedal posted 14 pts an 7 rbs Orlietti 13 pts and 5 rbs and Lisandro Rasio posted a double double with 10 pts and 12 rbs, six players scored in double digits and nobody played more than 24 min.

Australia leading Spain 33-23 at halftime, this Spain team looks mediocre so far but maybe they will start hitting threes.

Greece ahead of Puerto Rico 60-54(!) at halftime. 31 fouls in the first half.

hvala vam carevi! thank you kings! i couldn't thank you before i was concetrated on game...

nice togh win for us, but we got little help from refs with back court valiaton and i don't like it:mad:

Thrill' game between NZ and CRO and very nice to watch on a sunny friday morning..

At the end Mario Delas made the difference, but we were far away from dominating the game. New Zealand played without any serious Big Man today, but they were able to grab the same number of rebounds and even had more blocks..dont't wanna know what could have happend if Loe was able to play

IMO Croatia is lacking of some good coach, and this is a big problem so i don't see us among the best teams in the tournament. I've big respect for Ante Nazor but was shocked 'bout the coaching staff today. They even didn't left the floor during the halftime, and remember Croatia's first offensive plays after the break, when NZ was able to tie the game once again. We were unable to create a game for our big guys (Zubcic?), we run to much instead of playin' the clock, we show no solution for the quick NZ guards, and finally in almost every game there is a point where every moron sees you should call a time out. It was pure luck we didn't lose this one.

edit:

what do you guys think about Dion Prewster? He shows great quickness and a solid shoot, had some grat actions during the game

Same for me, it doesn't allow me to register! I guess its blocked. Any ideas?

To all Greeks out there; Did you notice the stats of the U19 NT? 2p/62.9%, 3p/52,9%, FT/78.9%.........I hope one day our senior team can play like that!

US beats Egypt 112-55. What is with the African teams this year? Usually Nigeria qualifies and doesn't get embarrassed even if they don't win much.

No complaints about the draw for the US.

I hope am wrong but it seems the gap between the "big" and "small" teams becoming wider...

Croatia - Argentina 29-24 HT

We were down by 12 late in first quarter..
really sluggish start from our side with a good defensive pressure from argentinians, Zubčić doing virtually nothing in offence with his forced shots..
we regrouped after couple of minutes in the second period, really tightened down our defence and played the ball down low to Delaš who is a beast so far..
I really want this guy to go to Cibona/Zadar/Zagreb/Cedevita this season and continue playing NLB league..
playing croatian league during the year will just slow him down in his progress..
if we just manage to shoot some of the open shots we are getting with argentinians double teaming us inside we can win this one..

Croatia up by 5 at halftime against Argentina. Poor execution by both teams, but Croatia has way more size and talent and should prevail unless Argentianians start knocking down perimeter shots.

Delas is force at this level with his faceup game. He will need to add strenght if he wants to take his success to senior level. Still, you cannot deny his skill-set even through his overall physical package is average.

Zubcic looked lost at defense as usual. I don`t think he will see much playing time at Cibona next season, because he is such a defensive liability. They should send him to some lower level team that has a good coach and can teach him defensive fundamentals.

Leon Radosevic doesn`t get nearly as much hype as Zubcic, but i wouldn`t be surprised if he ended up being better player then him. He is big, decently athletic, plays hard and has solid ballhandling and shooting skills.

well I have been watching a basketball a lot but I have never seen a boxing shot like this one during a bball game..
Orlietti got thrown out of the game after hitting Zubcic in the stomach while the ball was away from him..
some boxers wouldn't be shy of a hit like that one..

Disgraceful cheap shot by Orlietti. Zubcic was standing alone at the 3 point line, Orlietti stepped outside and hit him with his fist in the ribs. Orlietti will probably be disqualified from tournament.
