I think the finals would be Uruguay vs Venezuela or Argentina, and the underdog Chile.

I think there will be two points of interest:

1) Will Uruguay or Venezuela be able to win it, over Argentina or Brazil? I think Uruguay is the lead favorite.

2) Will one of the top 4 nations fall out of the top 4 positions? The best four teams of this tournament will qualify for the 2009 Americas Tournament, and this time Chile and Colombia should be ready to put up a better fight for that 4th slot.

 Ouch. Alermac, I know you're an Argentine to the bone, but I'm sure that even you want Chile to perform better.

Sure... it would be nice to see Chile or Colombia beat one the main four nations, for a change. It's kind of boring.

No surpises indeed, except for the tiny margin in the Brazil-Colombia game, especially considering than Colombia is missing some of its best players (SG Stalin Ortiz, SF Juen Diego Tello Palacios and PF Stuart Baldonado)

Brazil is really looking bad. Good for them they already won the two games it takes to qualify for 2009 Americas.

Uruguay's result.

Uruguay's result.

I'm definitely pleased to see my beloved URUGUAY winning its first two games but as usual I don't expect them to win against Argentina ... well they might prove me wrong, hence that would be a better result :D ... VAMO' URUGUAY!!! .... sooooy celesteeeeee ... sooooooy celesteeeee ... celesteeeee soy yoooooo!!!! ... VAMO' ARRIBA CARAJO!!!!

I watched the game yesterday. I didn´t realize how big some of these guys are. Argentina´s Gonzales is a monster. Too bad he can´t run. Mazzarino was incredible. I can´t get to the FIBA Americas sight, but I think Mazzarino scored 30+ points. Batista played well, but was still disappointing for a player of that caliber.

The scuffle in the 3rd quarter was wierd. What exactly happened?

I was surprised that Uruguay body-slammed Argentina so quickly. They had a 20 point game going until a solid 4th quarter comeback by Argentina.

I didn't really understand the 3rd quarter mess either, just that coach Narvarte got ejected by technical fouls. Mazzarino was huge indeed, scoring 36 points.

Today, Argentina beat Chile 87-70 and qualified for the gold medal game. Brazil and Uruguay are battling right now for the other spot, but Brazil needs to win by about 25 to be a finalist.

Venezuela beat Colombia earlier, 82-75: that was perhaps the most important game in the tournament, since it decided the 4th position, and also the last team to qualify for 2009 Americas. Anyway it was a big performance by the Colombians, considering they were missing its three biggest stars. With them, they would have made history.
