The NCAA D1 College Baseball Championship tournament bracket (2019)

NCAA D1 Baseball Championship bracket

The NCAA Baseball Championship is a tournament that is held annually by the NCAA. The college sporting event is usually played from late-May through June of every year and begins with 64 NCAA baseball teams. These 64 teams are broken out into four-team regionals. A little more on how that works in a minute.

The NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament comes down to the College World Series championship which brings the eight remaining teams to compete for the championship. This year those lucky eight NCAA college baseball teams will converge on TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska for the College World Series to determine that year’s champion.

So with 64 teams in the tournament, this is a simple 64-team bracket right? Not so much. That’s because it’s not a simple single elimination tournament nor it is an easy double-elimination tournament. The NCAA Baseball Tournament is unique in that it doesn’t stick to a particular format and relies on regions. The college baseball bracket will alternate between a double-elimination bracket and a best-of-three series broken out into four tiers. Take a look at the seeded interactive bracket below:

Yeah, there’s a lot to keep track of. Due to the tournament’s complicated format and back-and-forth, there’s no real hard and fast rules. You’ll just have to follow along.

For example, a team can actually lose four of their tournament matches and still have a shot at being the overall champion. In many ways, the format works like the WCWS tournament that happened earlier this month. In the popular women’s tourney, the rounds and formats are also broken into regional play double-elimination and best-of series.
