Ibn Facts: In Batista's last four international tournaments, he has
averaged strong double-doubles on a high field goal percentage: Coming out the
first round of the Fiba America's tournament, Esteban was the leading scorer and
rebounder after four games -- 23 points and 14.5 rebounds per game. In the 2007
Pan American Tournament he averaged 18.2pts and 11.8 rebounds. In the 2006
South American Championship 2006, Batista put up 21.3 and 10.8. At the FIBA
Americas Championship in 2005, he averaged 18 points and 15.6 rebounds. |
Name: Esteban Batista Postion: Forward-Center Nickname: N/A Born: September 02, 1983 Status: Active Origin: Montevideo, Uruguay Height: 6-10/2,08m Weight: 280lbs/122kg Schools: N/A Drafted: Undrafted Languages: Spanish, English Website: InterBasket Teams (jersey): Uruguayan National Team, Atlanta Hawks Ibn Notes: The First ever Uruguayan player in the NBA, Batista uses his 6-10, 280lb frame to battle underneath the boards and get a lot of his points on the offensive glass. Don't be fooled though as Batista isn't a one-dimensional player, unlike a lot of physical frontcourt players, he is quite mobile and adept at taking the ball to the basket and drawing contact. Batista was signed by the Atlanta Hawks after a strong performance during the 2005 Tournament of the Americas in which he averaged 18.6 points and 15.6 rebounds. The Uruguayan center has excelled in international competition -- averaging a strong double-doubles in the last four international tournaments, but that has yet to translate into NBA success.
