Heat Scorch Clippers in China- The defending NBA champions looked good in a 94-80 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in an exhibition game in Beijing. LeBron James led the way with 20 points and five rebounds and newly acquired Ray Allen contributed 15 points off the bench. The teams will have a rematch on Sunday in Shanghai (ESPN).

Top 10 Recruit Chooses Kentucky- Kentucky added to its top recruiting class this week as James Young of Rochester (Mich.) announced he will play for the university this season. Young joins a class that already includes twins and top 5 recruits, Aaron and Andrew Harrison, who committed to Kentucky last week (CBS Sports).

NBA to Build Sports Complex in China- There’s no question that the NBA has built a solid relationship with China in recent years. The country has hosted NBA preseason games and is even signing ex-NBA stars to its own league. But now the NBA wants to take it to the next level and build a sports complex. According to the New York Times, the NBA is planning on constructing a league themed building that will include a cafe, a gym, a kid’s zone and an interactive gaming area (NBC Sports).

Jeremy Lin Not 100% as Season Approaches- After signing a three-year deal worth $25 million, it’s safe to say the Houston Rockets are counting on Jeremy Lin to recreate the magic he sparked in New York last season. However, after undergoing knee surgery, Lin still feels he is not at full strength, at least not yet. “My speed and my explosiveness and my agility (are not) there yet,” Lin said (Sporting News).

Dirk Nowitzki Considers Surgery- After missing preseason games and practices with a sore knee, Dirk Nowitzki is considering surgery as a last resort. He told the Dallas Morning News that if it doesn’t feel better in a week, surgery may become an option (Sports Illustrated).

Kobe Bryant Disses Former Teammates- After a preseason loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, Kobe Bryant ripped teammates of the Lakers’ 2005-06 squad, including Chris Mihm, Kwame Brown and Smush Parker. “I almost won an MVP with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown on my team,” Bryant told reporters. “I was shooting 45 times a game. What was I supposed to do? Pass it to Chris Mihm or Kwame Brown?” (Inside Hoops)
