Rick Fox roadtrips to Obama Inauguration

Nearly a month ago in mid-January 2009, former NBA player Rick Fox would set out on a roadtrip from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. to help chronicle the mood of the nation and taking the pulse of Americans as the the first African-American was to be inaugurated as the President of the United States.

With less than 2 weeks before Barack Obama would become the 44th President, Fox, whom helped the Los Angeles Lakers win three NBA championships (2000, 2001, 2002) contacted MVP Shows of Orange County, NY, a premiere production logistics management company to help put his cross-country dream tour together.

Fox sat down with his team and decided he wouold retrace the historic Obama milestones, while reaching out to Americans in a Journey of discovery and making stops in places like Grant Park in Chicago, and Denver, the site of the Democratic National Convention.

“I’ve had a bit of success in one area of my life,” Fox said. “When he [Obama] called for ‘leadership in your own lives,’ I couldn’t shut off his words. I couldn’t vote this round. They [my children] had no voice because I had no vote.”

The Toronto, Canada native also mentioned that Obama’s historic move into the White House has inspired the 39-year old Fox to not only apply to become an American citizen this year (he’s been in the United States for 25 years), but to begin this dream tour.

The tour, called “The Lost and Found Tour”, would have Rick travel to many of the sites where Obama made his mark in his run leading up the presidency.  On Sunday night, January 11th, only a few days after envisioning the concept,  Rick jumped on a luxury bus to start his trek east.

His brutal schedule saw him stop stop in six cities in six days; Denver, Chicago, Indiana, Boston, New York, before finally arriving in Washington D.C. on January 18th where he would get to witness history.
