New Jersey Nets sign French center Petro

The New Jersey Nets signed French pivot Johan Petro to a reported three-year $10 million dollar contract.  Petro will serve as a backup center to up -and-coming star center Brook Lopez.

The 7-1 Parisian native was selected with the 25th pick in 2005 by the then Seattle Supersonics and played there until 2007-08 when he was moved to the Denver Nuggets. In five NBA seasons, he has averaged 5.1 points and 4.6 rebounds in 16 minutes per game.
