LeBron James leaves Cavs, joins Wade, Bosh in Miami
LeBron James is leaving the Cleveland Cavs after seven seasons, and will join fellow 2003 draftees Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in a Miami Heat jersey this coming NBA season.
(Discuss Bosh joining Miami, James joining Wade in our basketball forum)
“It’s going to give me the best opportunity to win,” James said. “(Bosh and Wade) are two great players, two of the greatest players that we have in this game today.”
It’s only been a week since players became free-agents and already the “Where will LeBron James go?” storyline was getting tiresome. As word leaked all throughout the day about where the King would go, the newswires worked themselves into a palpable frenzy hanging on any little tidbit that would signal one direction or another.
It’ll be interesting to see how the three NBA superstars will come together, and which player will have to sacrifice the most.
If Miami can put together a good defense, grab defensive rebounds, and get two of the NBA’s best fastest finishers on the break – James and Wade – obviously this can be a scary thought for the rest of the NBA. Wade and James, along with Bosh have all shared time together on Team U.S.A. so it won’t be out of the question.
The other side of the coin is that the three cannot work together as they all demand the ball to be entirely effective. It will be interesting to see how the team develops over the first quarter of the season.
Until then, us basketball junkies can just dream and imagine the possibilities.
All three superstars have spent their entire seven year careers with one team.
The 25-year old James, the prized free agent this summer, played all seven seasons with the Cleveland Cavs, his hometown. During his career in Cleveland, James gathered two NBA MVPs as well as career averages of 27.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 7 assists.
The 26-year old Chris Bosh will be leaving the Toronto Raptors. The left-handed Bosh developed into one of the NBA’s best big men, if not one of the most-underrated. The 6-10 power forward averaged 24 points, 10.8 rebounds, and shot 51.8% from the field last season.
The 28-year old Wade has already won one championship – teaming up with Shaquille O’Neal in 2007 in defeating the Dallas Mavericks. Last season Wade averaged 26.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists.

I can’t belive how cowardly Lebron was when he left Cleveland. The way he did it was wrong, and I hope he breaks his leg in Miami
