Erden is 23-year old big man that was selected by the Boston Celtics with the last pick in the 2008 NBA Draft (60th overall).

Erden is one of the most promising Turkish players in the last several years.

The Celtics have been the least-international team in the NBA the last three seasons, boasting not one foreign player during the 2008, 2009, and 2010 seasons.

The last foreign player to wear the Celtic green was center Michael Olowokandi from Great Britain/Nigeria.

A native of Istanbul, Erden has played with Fenerbahce Ulker the last few years, leading the team to the Turkish league championships in 2007, 2008, and 2010.

Erden avergaed of 8.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest this last season. He also converted 62.4 percent of his shots from the field in 42 TBL games.

Erden was selected to participate in the 2006, 2007 and 2010 Turkish All Star Games.
