Jeremy Tyler done in Europe, with Maccabi Haifa

Jeremy Tyler, the high school junior that opted to play overseas instead of playing out his senior year is returning home to San Diego after an unsuccessful attempt in Israel.

(Jeremy Tyler is not the next Brandon Jennings – is he?)

Helasted longer than I expected when we reported that he was having troubles back in November 2009. Now his season is over, choosing to leave Maccabi Haifa after seeing just 76 minutes in 10 games of action.

Statement from Maccabi Haifa: “Due to personal matters, Jeremy chose to leave the team on his own will on March 18 and return home to San Diego,” Maccabi Haifa owner Jeffery Rosen said in a statement. “We wish Jeremy all the best.”

We’re hoping Tyler learned something from his experience. Next up? Another European team as Tyler and his agent wants to avoid the NBA’s Developmental league preferring the “European development model over D-League, in terms of practice time, support system, nutrition, etc.” Stay tuned.
