Wizards forward Antawn Jamison is reportedly headed to Cleveland, Ilgauskas to Washington, and Drew Gooden to the Los Angeles Clippers. Jamison left the arena right before Washington’s game with Minnesota. Ilgauskas has spent his entire 12-year career with the Cavs but became disposable after Cleveland obtained Shaquille O’Neal this summer.
Cleveland will get also recieve Clippers point guard Sebastian Telfair. The Wizards will acquire forward Al Thornton and a Cavaliers draft pick.
More from Yahoo Sports: And, the dealings involving these teams may not be over. According to a source close to the situation, Gooden is not expected to play for the Clippers for long… the Bucks and the Bobcats—are expected to make offers to the Clippers for Gooden. If nothing can be worked out by the trading deadline, the Clippers will simply buy out Gooden.
While the obvious focus is on Jamison’s impact with the Cavs, the Clippers’ maneuvers in the past week have been impressive. Removing Telfair and Thornton from the books will save the team $5.5 million, leaving it plenty of room to make a maximum-contract offer to one of the league’s prominent free agents this summer.
Washington, too, is expected to explore a buyout with Ilgauskas, which could lead to him re-signing with the Cavs.
