Yao Ming kicks off boot, practice free-throws

(FIBA)Yao Ming made an unexpected appearance on the basketball court in Houston, Texas on Sunday.

A video from website YouTube, uploaded by ClutchFans, shows the 7-6 Houston Rockets center without the protective boot he has been wearing since undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone in his left foot last July.

In the minute long clip, the Yao can be seen wearing practice gear and shooting free-throws, bootless, prior to his Houston Rockets’ 115-111 overtime home defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Suns.

Apparently,Yao took 100 attempts from the charity stripe and converted 92 of them.

The seven-time NBA All-Star has not played since breaking the bone in his left foot during the Rockets’ second round playoff series against Los Angeles Lakers in May of last year.

Chinese news agency Xinhua last month reported that Yao expected the injury would keep him from taking part in the FIBA World Championship and that a return to full strength in time for the 2010-11 NBA season is a more likely target date.
