In his Chinese debut, former NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury scored 15 points, dished out 8 assists, had 4 steals in a one-point loss to the Dongguan Leopards.

Fans of his team, Shanxi Zhongyu, were reportedly disappointed with Marbury’s performance. Marbury wasn’t spectacular by any means, missing all six of his three-point attempts, but he also wasn’t jacking up shots like Bonzi Wells did when he played in the CBA.

Wells scored 48 points in his debut, but took 37 shots.

Marbury apologized to the fans, via his blog: “im sorry about the game last night. i wish we would have won for you guys. i will get better every game, i promise. i hope all is well with you guys and thanks for the support last night,” he wrote.

Marbury’s next game comes against one of the best teams in the CBA, the Guangdong Southern Tigers, which features former NBA player Smush Parker.
