That opportunity turned out to be a return to Europe. Haislip is expected to sign with Greek league powerhouse and Euroleague club Panathinaikos.
Haislip was selected 13th in the 2002 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, but only lasted three seasons in the NBA with the Bucks and Pacers.
After his first stint in the NBA, he starred overseas for the next several years; playing for Ülkerspor (2005–06), Efes Pilsen (2006–07), and Unicaja Málaga (2007-09) before returning for his second attempt at the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs.
Haislip played in just ten games with the Spurs, averaging 2.5 points in 4.4 minutes.
His new team, Panathinaikos (12-1) currently leads the Greek League along with archrival Olympiakos but has been hit with injuries, notably to forwards Costas Tsartsaris and Mike Batiste. Haislip’s acquisition is to help balance those injuries.
