The Guangdong Southern Tigers are off to a quick start in their pursuit of a CBA three-peat and their seventh title in eight years.

The Chinese club won for the ninth time in as many games this season with a 125-114 triumph over the Beijing Ducks, a team coached by former NBA star Sidney Moncrief.

Former NBA player Smush Parker poured in 22 points and Chinese Olympian Du Feng 19 for Guandong.

Parker signed with Guangdong last year after the club aggressively came after the former Los Angeles Laker’s guard.

“He’s had a standing job in Italy. But (the Chinese team) kept dragging up the offer until he couldn’t ignore it.” said Parker’s former D-League coach Clay Moser.

The Southern Tigers not only feature Feng and Parker, but also several key players on the Chinese Olympic Team including Wang Shipeng, Chen Jianghua, and Zhu Fangyu.
