Are the Memphis Grizzlies attempting to sign guard Von Wafer?

Wafer, who played for the Houston Rockets two seasons ago, is trying to get out of his overseas contract with Greek club Olympiacos after the two parties have butted heads.

The 6-5 guard and his agent will have to work out a compromise to be released from his Euroleague contract as well as obtaining a letter of clearance from FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, before returning to the NBA.

The 24-year old Wafer averaged 7.7 points for Olympiacos in limited time, and 9.7 points on 44.7-percent shooting for the Houston Rockets in 2008-09. Wafer has also played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, Denver and Portland during a four-year NBA career.
