Rutgers’ Epiphanny Prince joins Turkish team

Epiphanny Prince joins Botas Spor of the Turkish LeagueFormer Rutgers star Epiphanny Prince has joined Turkish club Botaş Spor, a team in Adana, Turkey, after an uneventful stint with Russian powerhouse Spartak Moscow.

Uneventful because despite Prince’s obvious basketball talent, she was going up against WNBA stars Diana Taurasi and Kelly Miller, as well as Edwige Lawson-Wade and Anete Jekabsone-Zogota for minutes.

However, before moving on to the Turkish league, Prince’s former teammate Taurasi, the reigning WNBA MVP, had great things to say about Prince’s game:

“Her scoring ability and floor vision will make her one of the best point guards in the league, instantly,” Taurasi wrote in an e-mail message. “Playing her first year overseas will help her understand her strengths even before she has played in a W.N.B.A. game. Look at Brandon Jennings.”

The move to the Turkish league, though a downgrade from the competitive level of Sparktak, is a good one for Prince. The 21-year old is looking to develop her game, and Turkey has arguably the most competitive Women’s league boasting Australian star Penny Taylor, as well as WNBA stars Katie Douglas, Tangela Smith, and Nicole Powell.

Prince made headlines back in August when she decided to forgo her Senior season at Rutgers, leave the NCAA, and play professionally overseas. See the full New York Times article.
