FIBA Europe names 16 Player of the Year nominees

The 2009  European Player of the Year nominees have been announced by FIBA Europe and the list includes the likes of Pau Gasol, Erazem Lorbek, Dirk Nowitzki, Hedo Türkoğlu, Novica Veličković, Juan Carlos Navarro, and Nikola Peković (vote now).

The 16 nominees are below:

  • Igor Rakočević (Serbia, TAU Cerámica, Efes Pilsen)
  • Ioannis Bouroussis (Greece, Olympiakos)
  • Juan Carlos Navarro (Spain, F.C. Barcelona)
  • Lior Eliyahu (Israel, Macabbi Tel Aviv)
  • Marcin Gortat (Poland, Orlando Magic)
  • Miloš Teodosić (Serbia, Olympiakos)
  • Nikola Peković (Montenegro, Panathinaikos)
  • Novica Veličković (Serbia, Real Madrid)
  • Pau Gasol (Spain, Los Angeles Lakers)
  • Rudy Fernández (Spain, Portland Trailblazers)
  • Tony Parker (France, San Antonio Spurs)
  • Vassilis Spanoulis (Greece, Panathinaikos)

The list of nominees includes three players from Serbia and Spain, while Turkey and Greece each have two representatives. You can see summaries of the players’ accomplishments on FIBA Europe’s website. Vote for your nominee in our forum.
