Video: Rajon Rondo’s behind the backboard circus shot

Here is the of video Rajon Rondo’s fun little, from-behind-the-backboard shot in the Boston Celtic’s 105-74 thumping of the Philadelphia 76ers.

With the score tied at 17-17 with 3.4 seconds in the first quarter, Rondo takes the inbounds, drives left.

Philadelphia’s 7-0 center Jason Smith switches to cover him. Rondo puts his head downs, drives forward, and when he goes up for the shot, his momentum will have pushed him behind the backboard.

With the backboard in his way and Jason Smith also there, Rondo shoots a high-arcing jumper that goes over the corner of the backboard, and swishes through as the buzzer sounds.

After the shot, I love looking at Jason Smith, he just kind of looks around in disbelief.
