Tyronn Lue chooses NBA bench over Europe
SLAM reports that NBA point guard Tyronn Lue has an offer on the table from a European club, particularly from Greek team Thessaloniki PAOK, but he has eschewed them to remain a bench player for the Orlando Magic.
Lue’s decision is newsworthy because of the increasing trend of legitimate NBA players that have chosen to play in Europe, usually for bigger money, instead of the NBA.
First it was Josh Childress who chose Greece over Atlanta followed by players like Earl Boykins, Nenad Krstic, Bostjan Nachbar, Carlos Delfino, Linas Kleiza, and Von Wafer.
Lue was traded from the Miwaukee Bucks last season to the Orlando Magic.
An 11-year veteran of the NBA, Lue has spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets, and Atlanta Hawks.
The 32-year old journeyman has played for Orlando before, playing in 76 games in 2003-04 in which the 6-0 guard started 69 games for the Magic.
