Richard Jefferson traded to Spurs for Oberto, Bowen
A rumor flying around has that the Milwukee Bucks have traded NBA All-Star Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Argentine center Fabricio Oberto, the defensive-minded Bruce Bowen, and backup center Kurt Thomas.
The move could add much needed firepower to couple with the constantly-blossoming Tony Parker.
“He’s a great wing,” Parker said. “It’s something we don’t have on our team.”
The Spurs continue to win, but with two of their big three, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, putting on the years and fading, the Spurs obviously felt like they needed reinforcements. Ginobili missed significant time with injuries this last season, including missing the entire playoffs. He played in only 44 games.
Update: After being traded from the Spurs to Milwaukee, Fabricio Oberto was then immediately sent to the Detroit Pistons for Amir Johnson. Phew…
