Purefoods outlasts Talk-N-Text 126-123 in 2OT battle

Kerby Raymundo of the RP National Team and PurefoodsMay 29, Araneta Coliseum – It could have been one of the greatest knockout games in recent PBA history.

The Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants survived their match against Talk-N -Text Tropang Texters 126-123 which needed two overtime periods to determine the winner (Discuss the game).

Purefoods who played with guts and heart all throughout the overtime period without their reinforcement Marquin Chandler (202 cm Coll: San Jose State) fouling out minutes before the end of 4th quarter.   National team co-captain Kerby Raymundo was the leading scorer for  the Giants with 33 points while Peter June Simon and national team member James Yap contributed with 26 and 21 respectively.

Thanks to the all-Filipino crew, we managed to come through,” said Purefoods coach Ryan Gregorio.

Talk N’ Text blew the chance to win it in regulation by Mark Cardona who accidentally foul Kerby Raymundo in the 3 point area resulting to a 4 point play opportunity but Raymundo blew the opportunity by missing the free throw.

In the first overtime, Purefoods led by as much as 10 pts. But thanks to the barrage of threes by TnT led by Florendo Ritualo the game went into the second overtime.

Purefoods would rely on the breaks of game to finally get the victory on what could have been one of the greatest knockout matches in PBA history.

Rashad Bell was the top scorer for Talk-n-Text with 29, while Cardona added 17 points.
