Both Joe Johnson and Pau Gasol are nearing 20,000 point with just a few games left in the regular season. Specifically Johnson has 5 games left and 42 points until the 20,000 point mark while Gasol has 6 games left and 55 points to hit 20K career points. Can the two former stars ht that plateau before the 2016-17 season ends?
If they can, they’ll be the 42nd and 43rd players to have ever scored 20,00 points in their NBA career. They’ll join Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade and 36 other players to have surpassed 20,000 points in their NBA careers.
Neither player is seeing the minutes or touching the ball on offense as they did 5 years ago, but they both still play a large role for the Utah Jazz (Johnson) and San Antonio Spurs (Gasol). Both players need to play every remaining game and hit their average to see 20,000 points in the 2016-17 season. If Gasol hits his season average (12.5) over the next six games, he should be able to get into the 20,000 point easily. Joe Johnson is averaging just 8.8 points per game so he’ll need each one of his remaining five games left with the Jazz to score his 20,000 point.
Let’s see how it plays out.
