Jonas Jerebko mixing it up for Detroit Pistons

In the last six games, the 22-year old rookie has averaged 13.7 points on 52.6% from the field, 7.7 rebounds and has recorded three games of double-doubles. The Pistons have won four of six.

The second round pick is certainly one of the steals of the draft.

Despite his rookie status, he has started all but three games this season, including the last 15 for the Pistons.

The 6-10 power forward is a bundle of energy, hustling, unafraid to mix it up inside (as evidenced by his preseason suspension for fighting), bouncing off opponents, or launching a three from distance.

There was the game that started Jerebko on this stretch; Jonas hit 4-4 three-pointers, and scored a career-high 22 points in a Detroit win against the Los Angeles Clippers. Jerebko has hit 6-11 threes and 16/20 free throws in his last six games.

Still, not everything Jerebko touches is gold.

Because of his fearlessness, Jerebko is averaging 3.4 fouls per game. Jerebko doesn’t handle the ball often, still he averages 1.8 turnovers every 36 minutes.

And before his recent perfect-from-three game, he was shooting just 3-18 from distance, just 16.7%. Ouch.

We have to remember that despite his recent successes, Jerebko is still a rookie and that he’ll continue to have ups and downs this season.
