Mexico sends leading scorer Romel Beck packing
After a loss to Puerto Rico, 81-66 in Mexico’s first game of the FIBA Americas Championships, there was bickering about that the teams leading scorer, Romel Beck, was being too selfish.
“There’s some unrest within the team,” Mexico’s head coach Arturo Guerrero admitted. “Beck started taking shots against five defensive players. That clearly bothered our guys.”
Hearing these complaints about his game, Romel Beck spent the next two games Kobe-Bryanting, selfishly being unselfish to prove a point.
The result of Mexico’s second game? Mexico got blown out by 55 points, losing to Canada 95-40.
The 40 points scored by Mexico in that game was the lowest scoring outcome by any team in a FIBA Americas Championship. Beck shot 1 for 9 from the field that game before Guerrero benched him after only 19 minutes on the floor.
“What can I say?” Guerrero said. “It’s an embarrassment. Tonight was the most embarrassing [moment of my career].”
In Mexico’s next game against the U.S. Virgin Islands, Beck was inserted into the game and was purposely not looking to shoot the ball during his five minutes of play. The 6-7 swingman was re-benched.
Beck’s behavior in the last two games prompted Guerrero to ask the Mexican Federation to remove Beck from the team. The Mexican Federation of Basketball agreed, sending Beck home before their game four loss against Uruguay.
“A lot of young players are seeing this as a business opportunity.” Guerrero said.
mexico is stupid for kicking beck off the team. you didnt see the lakers kick kobe off they just got rid of all the jelous players around them then they won the championship. they players who were complaining about kobe were never to be heard of again.

P.S. WTF is horacio llamas doing starting anyway? that is the most embarassing thing to watch a fat mexican the basketball team. why doesn’t lorenzo start? the coach should have been sent packin’ I bet the same players that were complaining about beck woulda complained about najera had he been playing too. stupid !

I AGREE THATS WHY MEXICO SUCKS CAUSE THEY ARE ALL JELOUS OF EACH OTHER. ROMEL IS THE ONLY ONE OF THESE CLOWNS THAT HAS A CHANCE TO GET PAID AND THESE MONKEYS CANT HANDLE THAT. THE COACH MADE HIMSELF LOOK BAD BY SHOWING HE CANT HANDLE A GOOD PLAYER WITH THAT KIND OF PERSONALITY. AND YEAH HORACIO LLAMAS IS A FAT ASS HE SHOULDA BEEN SENT HOME CAUSE HE OBVIOUSLY DIDNT WORK OUT FOR THIS TOURNEY. IF MEXICO IS SO DESPERATE FOR GOOD PLAYERS WHY ARE THEY SENDING THEIR BEST PLAYER HOME?

I agree with you guys i was at the game vs Puerto rico, It wasn’t Beck’s Fault,. I agree players without the level to play in NBA r just frustrated of their own limits.
It was player and Coach fault, Romel a bit but that wasn’t the issue.
Romel know how t o play Basketball without FEAR.
The rest of the team looked scared, nervous doubthying evrytime they shoot. Quintero the only one who played with balls.

Beck has been nothing but an inspiration to mexico. He has giving the whole team a chance to believe that they can win. If a team gives Beck a chance at the NBA level he will be a shock to the league. I’ve been following Beck for the pass couple of years and he has improved every team he has been apart of.

To the coach of the mexican national team you need to find another coaching job at a junior high school thats what your skills should be for coaching your a sad case to say your a coach you cant even handle Romel Beck they should let you go and 9 others from that team. I have produced many division 1 players and even NBA players who have played in my program and i know that you could not coach 1 of them, you have no coaching talent.you cant even recruit a decent post player the hell with federation you need to step down and step down now, now i see why players with mexican desent stay away from playing there the caoching is horrible the federation cant bring players and you bring a big fat slob to play center . the time has come revamp the team bring in a new coaching staff. Romel has the balls to take shots and create shots , the best player was sent packing mexico has a problem with players who are not 100% mexican you have wineing players that will always be 2nd and 3rd rate players Mexico will never be a power in basketball if you have a caoch who cant handle players and a federation that thinks they know what there doing but the real story shuold be Mexico sucks at basketball and the players are jealous about an american player who is better than everyone you got.
