Six Overtimes: Syracuse upsets UConn 127-117

In a record-breaking game for the ages, #16 Syracuse University defeated the #3 University of Connecticut last night 127-117  record six overtimes.

Syracuse won the game despite never holding a single lead until the sixth and final overtime.  Amazing.

The Big East tournament game was the first six overtime game since 1955 and lasted 3 hours and 47 minutes, as the Syracuse Orangeman won the battle of attrition with the UConn Huskies.  Eight players fouled out during the game,  four from both sides.  The two teams combined to score 244 points, 102 of those points came after the regulation.

For Syracuse, Jonny Flynn was amazing with 34 points, 11 assists, and 6 steals in 67 minutes.  They needed everyone of the 16 free throw makes (on 16 attempts).  Paul Harris contributed with a career game 29 points and 22 rebounds, Eric Devendorf 22 points, and Canadian National Team member Andy Rautins scored 20 points (including 6 threes).

Connecticut was Led by  A.J. Price’s 33 points and 10 assists amd Stanley Robinson had 28 points and 14 rebounds.  7-3 center Big East co-Player of the year Hasheem Thabeet finished with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 blocks and Jeff Adrien filled the boxscore with 12 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists.
