Guys, Alas is naturally a PG. He's just tasked to score more because Letran doesn't have a lot of guys that can score. In addition, they can't place Mark Cruz at SG since he's too small, so Alas usually takes care of the opposing team's SG on defense.

I'm not a fan of him as an SG because he's a volume shooter, but he'll be perfect as a PG. He's just a little bit rusty as a PG and he tends to switch to an SG mentality every now and then.

To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

He's always been a star in the NCAA, but the National team is another thing, and this gives him an edge over all the other NCAA stars in terms of exposure for experience and media mileage. He's also probably the most effective 6'0"+ Point Guard we have around.

Same is true with Garvo Lanete, who has been pretty consistent so far. Both guys have definitely boosted their stock in the PBA Draft once they join it ...
I think Alas' stint with Gilas in the recent Dubai tournament toughened him, specially in the mental aspect. We can see that the talent is there. There's no doubt about that. But prior to the Dubai tournament, Alas was not exposed to that level of competition. He was used to the level of competition in the NCAA & the D-league who's level of basketball is lower than international basketball. Alas got his "baptism of fire" in that tournament in Dubai. Of course he had some bad games in Dubai. There were times that he was erratic, & lapsed into several errors & imprudent moves. He appeared to be jittery & out of control in some games.

But definitely, he learned a lot from that experience. He was toughened by the Dubai experience. I think w/o that experience in Dubai, Kevin Alas might not have the poise & composure in scoring those crucial baskets in the finals game of this tournament in Hongkong.

          Congratulations to Smart Gilas team!

Thank you very much for all your sacrifice!

the mindset of our present players must change, they must not be contented with their talent and must work hard to continuously improved themselves plus try to master their basketball the way our legendary players did it passionately. Sacrifices must be made and they must not be distracted with so many things.

Do hope we have more younger players would be like Kevin or that of Gary David, who are very much devoted in using their spare time to practice and keep on practicing basketball.

Yes, but not if he's bricking shots after shots like game 3 of the NCAA finals. But if he's hot, then to hell with PG chores. Just give him the ball and watch him make shots after shots.

NT pg is demanding you need to be a constant offensive threat because how can you create opportunities for your team mateshave extra if opposing teams would not focus on you..
