The Lebanon team looks like a real contender this year with Vroman

hope the powerade team can put things together and be very competative with them
RP5 needs more 3 point shooters and shots to beat a bigger team
hopefully speed and being athletic will be enough to bring us to gold

and pba will hold an unlimited height format expect Vroman to be the man:D:D

He is a fit to a running team, a slow team, a half court team. "Magkano naman kaya" hehehhehe:D

without vroman, lebanon has no other firepower. i hope he doesnt get the swine flu. (ehem...)

I'm worried if our bigs can match-up with Vroman's speed. This I think is his best asset and he also moves well without the ball. I was thinking after watching two exhibition games of Lebanon that maybe we can really be physical guarding him. I don't know if this will work. Asi and Mick have poor lateral movement. I think Thoss and Japeth will be good as alternates when guarding Vroman. Japeth's mobility might help help him to keep in front of Vroman while Thoss can hold his ground in the post. Japeth's individual defensive skills are still unknown to most of us and Vroman is very experienced. This could be a tough match-up.
 
Vroman is good but I think we can still be competative
Japeth and Thoss can handle him down low and gabe and dilinger can take care of the outside
with the qatar video there were alot of lost fundamentals down low, no box out on him, defense got lost when he moved around, free shots from the outside, hope powerade has enough fundamentals to take care of this
I know smart gilas will have this because they are young and being taught by the bullman
remember there are 5 players and only one ball in basketball
let him score 50 and contain the others we can win
I still believe the 3s and fastbreaks will make it for us this year
 
guys jones cup and manila are training camps winning is not our objective neither your's improving and getting some experience is our main goal :) if lebanon won or lost it doesn't mean we are weak nor the best

the real challenge is the asian championship

why would lebanon team train here if according to some lebanese fans the philippine team is irrelevant and sub par? most lebanese fans treat our team as virtual nobody with no bragging rights whatsoever. if i can have it my way, i'll ban lebanon's team from practising here if only to make a statement. if you read the other thread that was recently closed you will see that the hostility was started by the indifference of the lebanese fans. pukenangina if you think we are not that good, then dont come here to practice. in spanish it's called delicadeza. you dont bite the hand that feeds you.

lebanon's decision to come back here and hold camp for the nth time is only a testament of the respect they have in our NT. they know we're one of only few teams that can beat them in any given time. those kids in that thread that got closed are just lost, they just don't want to admit it. there's so much hype about this lebanon team, that right now im thinking of fiba-asia and would want to see rp vs lebanon in the quarterfinals para magkaalaman na. if there's one country i like to see knocking out lebanon, its rp so that those lebanese who kept on badmouthing our team will learn to shut up.

pare, it's not even about beating them in fiba. it's about respect. pukenangina kasi, here is a team that beats you several times, you give it some respect. you dont say that this so and so team is no match to us and the other powerhouse teams. i'm sick and tired of their excuses. as far as i am concerned theres even no need to beat them in fiba tournaments as i am not competing nor claiming we are a better team. just respect, man. we have already earned it. if the lebanese fans wont give that to us, then i say @@@ them. dont accept their team here anymore, ingrates!
 
your wrong,we all as Lebanese fans respect your basketball,Fadi el khatib talked many times abt basketball and fans in your country.
Anyway its just abt principle,take a look on the thread,some of you are describing some of our players as mercenaries and payed,stop saying those things and we will be more than friends.

sure it's all clear now. lebanese fans dont want to consider there's a rivalry of sorts between our teams because we are a weak team and it's a dishonor for lebanon to be linked to a weak team like a 63rd placer in fiba. this has a simple solution. dont come here if you dont want the connection.

no one said your weak man,your team was abt to beat iran and jordan but for now i believe that your chances are not high to overcome these teams due to lack of good centers.
Anyway time will tell,i may be wrong so lets wait to see my friend!

you know kiddo i respect your posts but sometimes i can't understand you. sometimes you say this, sometimes that. i read the thread that got closed down and i don't see any reason why you have to say things like shitty, etc. we're just stating the facts, whether its friendly games or what, those are the facts, we're not making a big deal of it, we're not boasting about it. why the attitude? anyway let's see what happens alright. you are saying too much about how good your team is right now with the addition of new players. there's so much hype with your team let's see how will they fair...

i am not your friend. i dont know you. my loyalty belongs to techsupport and some other filipinos who have held their own despite the discouragement. it doesnt matter if we win or lose this fiba in a game against lebanon. i know my team is good and better than lebanon in more ways than one. :cool:

you know its hard to gain respect from these guys... because they always have their reasons and excuses. like "oh we lost because mahmoud didn't play", "khatib got injured", "it was a friendly match", "bad call from the referees" , "we have different starting 5's", "we didn't bring the magic ball", "the janitor forgot to wipe the floor". i've seen it all...

I dont know what is the discussion all about
I think lebanon is one of the better teams in Asia and it respects the way the philippines plays that is why they go to the Phils and play a few friendly games
I dont know why the pinoy forumers are getting upset
As danaib said Khatib does respect the play of the filipinos that is true I have read and seen interviews of him saying this
I would rather have lebanon win than China or Iran because of the mutual respect both (lebanon and Phils) teams have for each other

Vroman was a great addition but having the Japeth and the new boys in the team is a greater addition for us
Will it be enough to win the Asiad, that will be seen in the next few months
so forumers be patient, we will see the real champion in the next few weeks in the Jones cup and in the Fiba Asiad in a month

guys as i know the philipines are friendly.so,why are all attacking the lebanese fans?,if some of our fans are treating ur team as inferior,then it's their problem not all lebanese.i think most of the lebanese fans respect ur nt and i even think ur nt can compete with most of the teams in the coming asian championship(even us).so,don't be mad of all lebanese fans,not all ur fingers are similar.
