  • SBP is 10 year's , 10 yrs from the dark ages

Wow, it's been 10 years since SBP was created and 10 years since BAP, while still a lot of improvements are needed and admittedly still a number of negative things , I've got to say we've come far. Just happy to been involved for the last 5 years, here's too another good 5 years.

IN 2007 after a long absence from the international basketball scene, the Philippines, coached by Vincent “Chot” Reyes, bagged the Southeast Asia Basketball Association (Seaba) championship in Ratchaburi, Thailand. The same senior men’s basketball team also won a championship in a Manila Invitational and finished with a bronze medal in…

Despite it's flaws, you have to admit, at least the SBP managed to accomplish something.

Compared to other sports orgs in the country (especially for volleyball...what a mess, as it's like SBP vs BAP all over again), the SBP is in good hands.

The Paranaque Jets should be elevated to god-status. That superteam were the savior of Philippine Basketball. They started the chain of events that lead to the demise of the chinese-triad led leadership of Philippine Basketball under the dark shadows of Graham Lim and Go Teng Kok.

Without the Jets, the Men's NT will still be under the awesome tutelage of coach Johnny Tam(od) .

Happy 1st Decade to the Philippine Basketball Renaissance.

Lol Johnny Tam is one of the brightest young coaches we had, If bap still the basketball nsa, he might be the lead assistant from Chot to Tor0man, to Chot again to Tab to Chot again almost outlasting him in terms of being a stayput in our nt basketball program hehe

But with the rise of Mighty Sports..who knows..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

Would anyone know what our FIBA ranking was during the dark ages of the BAP, in particular, from 1999-2005? I'm curious to find out how far we've rebounded...

                Thanks, SK.

What year was this taken? It says that it was taken after the World Cup. Since the WC happens every 4 years, with the most recent one last 2014, then this ranking may have been last 2010. If I recall correctly, we had an even lower ranking back in the early 2000's. Anyone who has the rankings for this?
