its pretty obvious that China would send its Team B in this tourney, how about the other countries would they be sending their Team A?
you know why I am happy

I don't know if China will send "B" squad. After losing FIBA-Asia, China will get gold medal at all cost. The CBA season is even delayed until after this tournament.

Japan will send a U-24 team, Korea will send their military/college All-Stars while Chinese Taipei will send its "A" squad.

      Anyway, here's the groupings:
Group A: Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Guam
Group B: China, Chinese Taipei, Mongolia, Macau

Top 2 teams from each group advance to semifinals.

Good observation! I went to check and Guam is classified in the Ocenia as far as FIBA is concerned. (In other areas it is sometimes classfied in Asia too, sometimes East Asia, sometimes Southeast Asia).

You know, back in 2001, Australia and Kazakhstan also played in the East Asian Games in basketball. While Australia finished the tournament undefeated, runner-up China got the gold medal because Australia did not send players for other sports. Kazakhstan later decided it was not part of East Asia and never sent teams to East Asian Games again.

But this time, Guam is officially one of the participants of East Asian Games.
Held once every four years, the East Asian Games (EAG) are organised as a major event in the Asian international sports arena to create more opportunities for greater sports and cultural exchanges in the East Asian region. The participating countries and regions include China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Hong Kong China, Japan, Korea, Macau China, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei and Guam.

China "B" team, despite being certainly more talented than the other squads, couldn't even medal in East Asia, how pathetic. It shows the seriously lack of fundamentals and over-dependence on imports in the league. Does having super-imports in the league hurt the progression of Chinese players? Considering most imports are big men, maybe Chinese players need to learn to play with short players who can penetrate.
