Unless something very surprising happens, the team will be.

      PG -Marcelo Huertas - 1,91
      SG- Leandro Barbosa - 1,93
      SF-Guilherme Giovanonni - 2,04
      PF-Anderson Varejão - 2,11
      C-Tiago Splitter - 2,11
      PG - Fulvio de Assis - 1,87
      SG - Alex Garcia - 1,92
      SG/SF - Marcelo Machado - 2,00
      PF - J.P Baptista - 2,07
      C - Paulão Prestes - 2,10
      SG/SF-Jonathan Tarvenari - 1,96

With Jefferson William(SF/PF 2,07),Bruno Fiorotto(C - 2,08), Carlos Alexandre (PF - 2,03), Rafael Mineiro (C - 2,08), Guilherme Teichmann (SF - 2,04), all fighting for the last spot. The coach should have invited the centers Caio Torres(2,11), Vitor Tavernari(2,10), Lucas Tischer(2,08) or even Michel Nascimento(2,08), who are, all, easily better than Fiorotto and Mineiro. And without Nene and R.Araujo, we needed them.

even without them roster wise this will be the strongest team on the FIBA Americas tournament of all the teams coming out from Latin America..
but, I have my doubts about their final standing..
Brasil lacked team spirit in previous years, even when they had Barbosa and other guys available Argentina even without all of their stars would prove to be too strong..
hopefully that will change this year and this could be a first step towards great Turkey 2010. appearance..

Brazil looks good no doubt. If Nenê and Baby were there as well they would be the favourites right from the start. It's between them and Argentina imo.

actually I wanted to sound like a mexican (considering the tournament was supposed to be there)..
and ofcourse I don't know any portuguese words so that didn't help either..
well I don't know if they really miss Nene and/or especially not Araujo..
they have enough under there.. would rather love to see Prestes getting more playing time..
and I'm under the impression that with Nene in the team they simply don't/wouldn't function as a team..
Varejao although a less quality player ((IMO) always fights and gives his best (ask Zissis ) and Splitter is now mature enough to be a number one option at center.. ofcourse those two would give them more depth but I'm guessing it would create a lot more hurt personalities because of someone not playing more..

too bad, I was kinda hoping to see whether Brazil would send a statement to Argentina after Argentina trashed that Brazil team in Argentina..
I wonder whether they (Argentina) lost to Australia in purpose.. they beat team twice by 20 or so points so this does look suspicious..
oh well, will have to wait and see the tournament

Paulão had contractual problems with Unicaja Málaga and did not play

he´s probably out of Copa America

because of those problems with Unicaja? I read somewhere that he said he is hoping for playing time Unicaja..
he played rather good for Brasil on lusophone games..

Hey not so fast. The 2007 Fiba Americas brazilian team beat Uruguay by a similar margin(96-62) just a three point differential from the 100-63 2009 brazilian team.

I pick Brazil to make it to Turkey, but damn saying its only between them and Argentina right off the bat like that is crazy, especially when the dominican and Puerto Rico have the teams they have.

I really think it is. The dominicans have new players in the team, they still have to adjust and so, those things take their time. But they could surprise, I don't write that off. As for PR, there's is no big faith that they will win the Americas, you know the coach the team has, and it's not just me saying this, it's other Boricuas here as well

Is this a tactic to get other teams to forget about Argentina? If so, I doubt it will work cause Argentina is #1 ranked in the world after all.

Also, Luis Scola doesnt appear in that performance list so Im guessing Argentina didnt look to win that game.
