I think Jamie Orme is only 16 years old. He could be a good addition to Philippine under-16 team. But again SBP hasn't done any efforts to recruit him or even just assist him to undergo the process of dual citizenship. . .

          • Aside from B. Rosser, Fenner, Justin Brickman, Bagtas who are set to play in US NCAA next year, there are three other who sat out this current season to be available to their new varsity next year.

Jordan Clarkson from Tulsa to Missouri
Michael Willaims from University of San Farncisco to Calif. -Fullerton
Isiah Umipig from Calif. -Fullerton to Seattle Univ.

It will be a missed opportunity for Williams and Umipig they could have play together at Fullerton if not for the transfer. . .While Clarkson and Umipig will have another two years of eligibility M. Williams will have just one year left.

                Associated Press
MORAGA, Calif. -- Matthew Dellavedova scored 21 points and became the all-time leading scorer at Saint Mary's in the Gaels' 80-67 victory against Santa Clara on Saturday night.

Stephen Holt added 13 points and Mitchell Young 12 for Saint Mary's (26-5, 14-2 West Coast).

Marc Trasolini had 21 points and Kevin Foster 14 for the Broncos (21-10, 9-7).

Foster's 3-pointer got Santa Clara within 63-62 with 4:08 remaining before the Gaels went on a 9-0 run -- all on free throws -- to take a double-digit lead with a minute to play. The Broncos missed five straight shots and had two turnovers during the stretch.

Dellavedova passed fellow Australian Daniel Kickert for the school record by making a spinning short jumper with 3:53 remaining in the first half. Kickert had 1,874 points from 2002-06; Dellavedova has 1,892.

Saint Mary's came in having locked up the No. 2 seed and bye to the semifinals at the WCC tournament in Las Vegas.

With the loss, Santa Clara is the No. 4 seed, and BYU the No. 3 seed. Both schools receive a bye to the quarterfinals.

                  Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Jamal Olasewere and C.J. Garner combined to score 63 points Saturday to help Long Island Brooklyn defeat Quinnipiac 96-90 and lock up at least one home game in the upcoming Northeast Conference tournament.

Olasewere tallied a career-high 33 points and 10 rebounds, while former high school teammate Garner added a personal-best 30 points.

Brandon Thompson, who had 11 points, capped a 13-2 run with a three-point play to help the Blackbirds (17-13, 12-6) turn a 43-34 halftime deficit into a 47-45 advantage.
From there, Quinnipiac (15-15, 11-7) twice cut the deficit to one, but each time Garner answered with a jumper to extend LIU Brooklyn's lead.

LIU Brooklyn outshot Quinnipiac 55 percent (32 of 58) to 49 percent (33 of 67), including a sizzling 67 percent (19 of 28) in the second half.

Jason Brickman handed out 12 assists for the Blackbirds while Dave Johnson led Quinnipiac with 24 points.

A transferee from City College of San Francisco and currently redshirted this season to be available Eastern Washington next year. Coach Hayford's impression on Moon : "Garrett will likely redshirt this season after transferring from City College of San Francisco. He is a lockdown defender and an outstanding offensive and defensive rebounder. Garrett is very athletic, a gifted shot blocker and will bring great depth to us at three positions on the court. We are very excited that Garrett joined our program.” links: http://goeags.com/sports/m-baskbl/20...n_garrett_5uql

                        Potts tabbed 1st-Team All Conference

Santa Ana, CA - The men's basketball coaches in the Orange Empire Conference voted the Chargers' Davon Potts to be on the All-Confefrence First-Team. Potts who played for Bobby Braswell at Northridge during his freshman season, averaged 19.7ppg, best in the conference. Potts also set a school record hitting 17 of 18 free throws against Irvine Valley. The free throw record was held by Eric Pauley in 1994 at 14.

Potts was under the target for conference opponents all season, being guarded tightly but had never scored under double-digit. More so, Potts had the speed and able to create his shots. Potts was a prolific offensive player in the category of former Cypress Charger greats Zach Zaragoza, Khalif Boyd, Eric Taylor, Kevin Cook or Houstan Downey.

Potts is being scouted by many D1 programs and expected to be an impact player the next two seasons.

Thomas finished with 18 points and Craft added 15 as the Buckeyes (22-7, 12-5 Big Ten) won their fourth straight.
Indiana had big plans for Senior Night.

After clinching a share of its conference league title for the first time in 11 years with losses by Michigan State and Wisconsin on Sunday, the Hoosiers (25-5, 13-4) were trying to claim their first outright Big Ten crown since 1993. They will have another chance Sunday at No. 7 Michigan.

Cody Zeller scored 17 points and Christian Watford added 12 but the Hoosiers weren't themselves.

Ohio State retook the lead midway through the second half when Indiana went more than 5 minutes without a basket, took control with the late run and never allowed the Hoosiers to get closer than six points.

                            • LIU Brooklyn tops Quinnipiac in NEC quarterfinals, could make history if wins third straight conference title

Third-seeded LIU Brooklyn (18-13) will now face No. 2 Wagner (19-11), a 72-50 winner over Central Connecticut State, in Saturday’s semifinal game on Staten Island at noon

BY SEAN BRENNAN / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

                              WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6, 2013, 11:04 PM

There’s no denying LIU Brooklyn’s dominance in the Northeast Conference the past three seasons. Two straight NEC titles, back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament, Player of the Year honors last year for Julian Boyd -- this year for Jamal Olasewere -- and a stellar 44-10 conference mark the past three years are testaments to the Blackbirds' brilliance.

Add in the six straight NEC playoff victories, entering Wednesday night, over the past two seasons and that conference mark swells to a sterling 50-10 since the start of the 2010-11 season.

But with so much already accomplished there was still one goal LIU Brooklyn – or any other team in the 32-year history of the NEC – had yet to achieve: win three straight conference championships.

For LIU Brooklyn, history is still there for the making.

With Olasewere watching the final 3:32 from the bench after fouling out of a one-point game, the Blackbirds used an 11-4 run to close the game with Jason Brickman bagging five free throws in the last 32.5 seconds as LIU Brooklyn rallied from a nine-point, second-half deficit to pull out a thrilling 91-83 victory over Quinnipiac in an NEC quarterfinal game at the WRAC. Third-seeded LIU Brooklyn (18-13) will now face No. 2 Wagner (19-11), a 72-50 winner over Central Connecticut State, in Saturday’s semifinal game on Staten Island at noon.

“Things were looking a little bleak down nine,” LIU Brooklyn coach Jack Perri said. “(But) our guys stepped up. We got the big stops down the stretch and we made the big plays down the stretch.”

Yes, bleak was about as good a word as any to describe the Blackbirds' fortunes in the waning moments. They had just come all the way back from that nine-point hole when Olasewere, league MVP and team spiritual leader, was whistled for his fifth foul with 3:32 to play and LIU Brooklyn nursing an 80-79 lead.

So with little else to do from the bench, Olasewere just kept the faith that his college career would extend beyond Wednesday night’s quarters.

“I just knew it would be positive,” said Olasewere, who scored 20 points. “I remember C.J. (Garner) came to me when I fouled out and he said, 'I got you.' The kid took over. There are not really many words you can use to explain the kid but, man, he’s tremendous.”

With the score knotted at 80 with 2:35 left, LIU Brooklyn’s Brandon Thompson (13 points) sank a pair of free throws before Garner’s jumper extended the Blackbirds' lead to 84-80 with 1:32 left. When Brickman added his seventh assist of the night, a no-look bounce pass in the lane that Kenny Onyechi turned into a thunderous dunk, the Blackbirds were soaring with an 86-80 lead with 47.8 seconds to play and they were moving on to the semifinals.

Garner said he lives for big moments like Wednesday night.

“I had to step up,” said Garner who had a game-high 30 points. “I have to be someone the rest of the team can depend on. I like moments like this. It really lets me show my game.”

Perri said these types of comebacks have been commonplace for the Blackbirds.

“It’s just keeping our poise,” Perri said. “We have such talented guys with Jamal, C.J. and Jason, those are three top talents in the league...We can handle anything. We’ve been through this before and they did it again. I’m not surprised.”

Nor was Olasewere who was sure there would be at least one more game in his collegiate career.

“We just knew being seniors we couldn’t go out that way at home,” Olasewere said. “We’ve brought so much to this program and I feel like this program has given us so much. So the best (way) we can repay them is to come out on top at home.”

Now it’s on to Staten Island Saturday to take on a Wagner team that swept the season series from the two-time defending champions.

“It’s going to be a war just like this one,” Perri said. “We haven’t played a road playoff game in the last few years so it will be an unbelievably difficult environment. But again, we have a lot of seniors who have been through it and we’ll challenge them. They’re obviously a great team with great athletes and it should be fun.”
