  • For those considering to naturalize DLSU's Ben Mbala, it may be too late as his mother country Cameroon has placed him together with the Sixers' Joel Embiid, the Clippers' Luc Mbah a Moute & Toronto's Pascal Siakam in their 30-man pool for the 2017 AfroBasket. Also included in the pool is NU's Alfred Aroga.

Wow the Cameroon national team does have the connection.

Just a random thought, How about Hasheem Thabeet being a naturalized player? what are the possible pros and cons? he is still young

Afaik he has not played for Tanzania yet and with his height, even though he's already 29 years old.At 7'2 he may still have good 4-5 years of playing time.

pretty sure portis hasn't. i like his game for international ball, 6'11, can hit the 3 & switch on guards on the pick & roll. good rebounder too.

                    • Portis is a potential to become upper tier among the nba bigmen, it would be a steal to get him, especially in the home and away format where verone can be given a chance to represent USA..

                      • If we could get active NBA players then we might as well get Willie Cauley Stein

                            • By 2020 , Blatche will be 34 yrs old, given how out of shape he's been in his late 20's , not sure how serviceable he will be, Kamaka Hepa by 2020 will be 20 yrs , old and a junior college student, assuming he ends up as a productive 15 pts , 9 reb US NCAA player from a top college programme (has offers from Oregon, Texas, USC, Washington state) , if he's that good at that point , Junmar is still solid ( has more int'l experience) and AJ Edu becomes a contributor in a US college Div 1.

My question is simple , will Hepa be a decent player to fill the naturalize spot in lieu of going through congress to naturalize and spend for someone else?

                              • To me given Blatche should at least be serviceable for 2 more year ( 2017 and 2018)
We have Jordan Clarkson as back up to help us in 2018 and 2019
Christian Hermoso and Mo Tuatuaa (if improves ) further as other options for 2018 and 2019
Then Hepa in 2019 and 2020.

The case for having to naturalize someone through congress in the next 2-3 years is really hard to sell to congress or MVP (to bankroll the facilitation), given the options above, it's like Bakit ? Now if come 2020, Blatche is too old, the other options are not good enough or Clarskon does not fill the need ( our big men can't do the job), then sige in 2020 let's look at naturalizing someone. Something tells me that during Duterte term (given all his other priorities) , naturalizing through congress is really going to be hard to justify
