      Good Stuff

All this information is great. I have two players that are looking to play in the Philippines. What is the best way to get them a try-out. They're American guards who can really play?

$7,000 to $8,000..agent's share, and player bonuses and perks may cancel each other out..I think locals earn the whole year round, including off season..

In the PBA, the team salary cap is P50 million and all teams are required to stick to the limit with no exceptions. Players are signed to uniform contracts with a max salary of P420,000 monthly. The tenure for a contract is a minimum one month and a maximum three years. The lowest salary is P70,000 a month. The top three drafted rookies may be signed to a max contract but the others are limited to a first-year monthly salary of P200,000 and a second-year monthly salary of P250,000.

Uniform player contracts are the basis for the computation of income tax and are filed in the PBA office. However, players are often given “sweeteners” to increase the value of their contracts such as endorsement fees, travel allowance and other perks. Perhaps, it’s timely for the PBA to review how to deal with player salaries. If rich teams are able to pay high salaries, they should be free to do it but at a price to pay such as a luxury tax which may be distributed to not-so-rich teams that can use the extra cash to build their own war chests. Transparency is key to how players are paid by teams to avoid issues of intrigue that are divisive in the operations of any league. Quinito Henson’s article last December

If you look at other league s including B League , pay as much as you can. No salary cap, no trades. That's the situation majority of leagues around the world
