Default Prediction Game World Cup European Qualifier

Since FIBA decided to organize a worldchampionship qualification tournament we also have the outstanding opportunity to play a "WC Qualification Prediction Game" for the European Qualifier. Players from across Europe but also from around the globe are very welcome to participate and we definitively expect a lot of fun!

Participants have to register on the prediction game portal betting.basket-balls.de which simplifies the entry and evaluation of your predictions and nicely visualizes the game results. After registration you also have to become member of the "WC Qualifier" prediction game league. Please click Place Bet. Choose the right season "2017/18" and league "WC Qualifier" and press the button "Join this WebTip".

The game winner will be awarded with a national team jersey of his own choice or the most recent version of NB2K for PC or any video game console. In addition apart from individual evaluation we will perform a team ranking. Teams are formed based on the forum association of the participants. The average score of the four best placed players of each forum result in the team score. As a result apart from the best player we will also award the forum with the highest basketball expertise!

    Qualification Tournament System
The qualification tournament ist organized in two rounds. In the first round 32 teams are split in 8 groups which play against each other in three game "windows". Afterwards the top three teams of each group move forward for the second round where the remaining 24 teams are again distributed across four groups. After three more game "windows" the twleve teams which are ranked on the top three spots of each group qualify for the worldchampionship.

    Prediction Game System
In each game the winner and the point difference of the final score has to be predicted in ranges of 5 points. For example if Greece is playing at home against Lithuania (Greece - Lithuania) and you would like to predict a victory of Greece with a difference of 1 to 5 points you should enter 5:0. On the other hand entering 0:10 would mean that you predict a victory of Lithuania with a point difference of 6 to 10 points.

    Exemplary Game Predictions

0:5 guest team wins with a difference of 1 to 5 points
10:0 home team wins with a difference of 6 to 10 points
0:15 guest team wins with a difference of 11 to 15 points
0:20 guest team wins with a difference of 16 to 20 points
25:0 home team wins with a difference of 21 to 25 points
and so forth and so on...

Please note that predictions which are not following the given format will not be considered in the evaluation process.

    Points Allocation
Points are assigned for the correct prediction of the winner and the correct 5-pt difference interval.
In the second round the credited points are increased to motivate newly registered participants.

    First Round
correct tream and exact point difference interval: 3 points
correct tream and neighboring point difference interval: 2 points
    correct team only: 1 point

    Game History
Our prediction game has been firstly introduced in the legendary year 2005 by the user "Athen2004" of the former basketball.de forum which we really appreciate. Since then the community has organized a prediction game for almost every international FIBA tournament each year. When the basketball.de forum was switched-off in 2015 the community moved to the new domain basket-balls.de where we also installed a slightly modified version of the phpbb footbal module (http://football.bplaced.net) to serve the needs of our basketball prediction game.

Here are the winners of all organized prediction games so far
    • 2005 EC in Serbia davidoff
    • 2006 WC in Japan Montenegro#1
    • 2007 EC Xeniaspapa
