  • FIBA Afrobasket 2017

    Starts SEP 8, 2017
    Official FIBA page: http://www.fiba.basketball/afrobasket/2017

Some news about the D'Tigers (Nigeria) ahead of the Afrobasket:

    Daniel Ochefu (Wizards)
is set to play the first time for Nigeria while Ike Diogu is currently the only foreign-based player in camp in Lagos with 14 local players. Head coach is Alex Nwora, formerly of the Cape Verde NT replacing Voigt. NBBF is currently split into parties with both claiming leadership and FIBA is currently reviewing this problem.
Al-Farouq Aminu is also in Nigeria: http://sunnewsonline.com/aminu-storm...gers-training/
Not sure if is going to suit up though.

Biyombo and Mudiay won't be suiting up for DR of Congo due to insurance issues as the NBA demanded 15k for each player from the federation.

Salah Mejri is also not coming over and is staying in Dallas rather than joining Tunisia.

Senegal's players boycotted practices in Spain due to missing insurance policies. The problem has been solved according to this article: http://senego.com/afrobasket-masculi...ng_518846.html
Gorgui Dieng is with the team and Clevin Hannah is occupying the naturalized roster-spot.

    Roster for Uganda: https://www.kawowo.com/2017/08/24/un...d-silverbacks/
Naturalized-player is A'Darius Pegues lastly playing for the Pioneros de Los Mochis (Cibacopa/ Mexican Summer League)
Stanley Ocitti is also back while many other overseas-based players are missing.

Roster for Rwanda with Kenny Wilson "Gasana" as a naturalized player like in the years before.
Rwanda men's basketball team, through head coach Moise Mutokambali made clear what their target is at this year's FIBA Afrobasket championship.

Congrats to Tunisia ! Great team even without Mejri they still look good. I do think Tunisia is number one in the arab world.
Hard luck Morocco but it was a good tournament for them TBH it's not a surprise for me because most of their players play in Sala and we (lebanese club) play a lot against them so i knew that they can go far because they have a good frontcourt. They play physical game and it's always hard to beat them. Happy for them because it's a great achievement to be in the semi-final.
Good luck Tunisia in the final ! Make us proud once again.

Btw it's unfortunate no african member here.

Congrats Tunisia for your win !
You deserve it. Great coach and great players but it's not the only secret to win. They played against top european NT before the tournament.

2017 AfroBasket was a most enjoyable tournament to watch and Tunisia were clearly the best team. Sad to see how much Angola have fallen away.

The Angolan golden generation are still going on but time has caught up with them. No new blood has emerged.
