Earl Monroe (who was nicknamed "Earl the Pearl") played in the NBA from 1967to 1980 (Baltimore Bullets and NY Knicks).
Did you mean Earl "the Goat" Manigault ? Then maybe yes, he could have been a great pro player, though he was only 6-1.

Oscar Schmidt, for all his achievements is imo the greatest from the "modern" era.

Going back to the early times, there are many very talented players who, for one reason or another, didn't make the NBA, but maybe the best was Marques Haynes, who was claimed the world's greatest ballhandler in the 1950's and beyond with the Harlem Globies & other pros. Would have been a tremendous battle with the likes of Bob Cousy !

Where to watch this documentary? Seeing how everybody still hypes him makes me so intrigued.

Also, does anyone know where Renardo Sidney is playing now? Eurobasket.com says D-league but he actually was waived without playing a minute. Definitely another player on the "what could have been" list.

Oscar or Galis.
Both top scorers wherever they set foot on.
Oscar was more impressive a scorer, but Galis was better in general and unique.
Oscar had crazy 3pt records, Galis had perhaps the highest FG percentage in the planet.
Oscar wins simply because he proved that even at his 40+ he could lead. Galis was denied this chance (although we Greeks believe he could play another 5 years just fine).

Surprised no one has mentioned about this player...in the 70's, watching him play was like watching "The Doctor" himself strutting his stuff in an Olympic stage.
