height difference is a big factor, but height isn't everything

So of course they are worse, they are each 6cm shorter! But 203cm Quincy Davis and 205cm Wu Tai-hao are the only players over 2m on this team, and they are both old. The coach picked one "tall" "youngster", 200cm Lin Chih-wei, and as I mentioned in another thread, he sucks and plays like a girl. So even in a blowout like this Quincy Davis plays 31 minutes, more than anybody else in this game, and he probably would have played 39 minutes if he didn't foul out."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Of course one should expect that Japan is the more disciplined team becoz Japan is the more cohesive team with more experienced players. Korea has a lot of new & young players who probably are first timers in international basketball. Korea isn't the same team without veteran point guards Yang Dong Geun & Kim Tae Sool, and swingman Cho Sung Min."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. From the Japan-Korea game it appears they also don't have much of a post presence either (Yes, I saw Takeuchi twins and Lee Jong-hyun). Out of the 4 teams I believe Japan is the most "complete" (CKR13 can correct me), and personally I don't find them impressive. It will be interesting to see how this tournament ends.
The serious part for Japan is that outside Takeuchis + Ota, they have no local bigman that can bring in the same quality and production. Taiga Watanabe at 207cm turned out to be a bust. I get that Yuta Watanabe, Rui Hachimura and Avi Schafer are next but they still have commitments in the US.
Japan's Takeuchi + Ota combination has been set since 2011 and it is expected that the three must still play in 2020.Sacramento Kings

Taiwan's unconventional lineup of Chou Yi-Hsiang at PG while Quincy Davis is flanked by shooters Kevin Hu, Chou Po-Chen and Tsai Wen-Tseng ultimately allows Davis the inside space to just bully his way inside. Japan sticking to man to man as Davis rampages inside.Sacramento Kings

Korea is a big man short with 200cm Song Kyochang ruled out of the EABA finals with a hamstring injury sustained in practice. That leaves 206cm Lee Jong-Hyun, 200cm Park In-Tae and possibly 198cm Jeong Hyo-Geun being able bodies to try and stop Quincy Davis. Kang Sangjae at 198cm is soft.Sacramento Kings

This is great for Taiwan, even if some other teams didn't send their A teams. They needed the boost after some poor recent showings and to have some of the young guys gel into a part of the team.
Jones cup should be a good one this year!We The North
