RE: Davao Aguilas FC Coach Gary Philips Sacked

This report confirms that Davao Aguilas FC Coach Gary Philips has been sacked. It was sort of bound to happen, I mean they got a lot of quality players in the Transfer Window, and then even went to Malaysia for a couple of weeks to play against teams there to prepare the team, and yet their last couple of games they still couldn't win a game.

RE: Trouble Brewing in the PFL?

Trouble seems to be brewing in the Philippine Football League (PFL) based on the game between Global Cebu FC (GCFC) and Stallions Laguna FC (SLFC) at the Rizal Memorial Stadium (RMS) today (Wednesday, September 20, 2017).

The game was set to kick off at 4:00 pm, but as early as 11:30 am the official PFL page on Facebook made the announcement that the game will be cancelled (https://www.facebook.com/Philippines...82930105090171).

However, both GCFC and SLFC went to the venue, but since no official was around, they both eventually agreed to cancel the game, announcing it on their official Facebook pages at 4:14 pm (https://www.facebook.com/globalfootb...96809017026868).

Things like these are not a good sign for the PFL. They already lost their TV coverage on PTV4 and now relies exclusively on livestreams, and now on top of that you have issues like these.

IMHO, it is the teams that spend a lot of money to make the games happen, paying for the players salaries, plane tickets, accommodations, etc., so they should be given some leeway in terms of whatever issues there may be, like the venues, for example.

Anyway, this could lead to bigger confrontations later, and will certainly mean even more trouble for the league itself. Sad to see this happen.

    RE: PFL Game Cancellations

The way I see it, the Philippine Football League (PFL) cannot cancel games just like that. With their regional format, a lot of money is being spent by the clubs to make the games happen.

Things like Plane Fare, Accommodations, etc. adds to the cost of maintaining a team, hence if you schedule a game, all of that ends up being just wasted.

Not sure if this is a case of Incompetence, or maybe the PFL trying to make a disciplinary statement or something, but in the end it doesn't look good to the fans, team owners, players, etc.

The PFL should be humble enough to admit that Football in the country is not as popular as before and thus should be willing to allow for some leeways here and there for the league to survive.

They can't be too demanding anymore, IMHO. Anyway, let's see what happens next.

Ilocos United FC came from behind to finally win their first game in the PFL by beating JPV Marikina FC. And at home too, which makes it sweeter.

This leaves the Davao Aguilas FC to be the only winless team in the league, putting even more pressure on them to start winning games.

What a great and exciting game yesterday between Kaya Makati FC and Ceres Negros FC. So intense, lots of goals and good chances, and lots of intensity, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not sure if there is still a game where Kaya will host Ceres in Makati, but if so that will be another great game.

The FC Meralco Manila team travelling by bus to Ilocos for their game against the Ilocos United FC on Friday (October 20, 2017). This is part of what it is like to have a regional professional league.

The Davao Aguilas FC wins their second straight game, but against the same team over at the Ilocos United FC's home turf. But at least the Ilocanos scored some goals for their hometown fans to cheer about.

Davao Aguilas FCs Harrison Sawyer leads the team to its second straight victory. Handout photo
Despite a grueling 14-hour travel by plane and by land, from Davao del Norte to Ilocos Sur, the Davao Aguilas didnt allow fatigue to get in the way, as they replicated their success last weekend, making their second straight win for the first season of the Philippine Football League (PFL).

After their first win which took place only last Sunday at their own pitch, the Aguilas again beat the same team, Ilocos United FC.

Davao Aguilas FC scored 4 goals while the home team Ilocos United scored 2, with Harrison Sawyer doing a hat trick.

The Aussie striker's shots found the back of the net during the eighth, 44th and 57th minute of the match.
