    Hmmmmm, here's the Canadian roster:

    #2 – Dwayne Smith (204cm, 95kgs)
    #3 – Shaquille Keith (201cm, 102kgs)
    #4 – Joey Haywood (190cm, 84kgs)
    #5 – Diego Kapelan (192cm, 84kgs)
    #6 – Joel Friesen (198cm, 92kgs)
    #7 – Tramique Sutherland (182cm, 80kgs)
    #8 – Garreyy Williamson (198cm, 92kgs)
    #9 – Conor Morgan (210cm, 98kgs)
    #10 – Connor Wood (203cm, 95kgs)
    #11 – Dallin Bachynski (214cm, 118kgs)
    #12 – Michale Kyser (212cm, 98kgs)

What the heck is the Jones Cup by the way? I haven't heard of any of these guys besides Dallin Bachynski (Jordan's brother and ex-NCAA at Utah, who I believe played in Poland last year). Not that I bother to watch the CIS though. Who are these players?

This seems like a showcase of lower level players to Asian professional clubs? Is that the point of this tournament?

That does seem to about sum it up. My knowledge of the Jones Cup is derived entirely from the following:

    William Jones Cup - Wikipedia

    2017 Jones Cup - Wikipedia

Canada is currently tied for first with a 4-1 record.

Well you should. It's a league of, for and by Canadians, and involves actual students to boot.

No thanks. I played CIS in my younger years. I am thankful for the experience but it's is pretty much a bush-league in all aspects. If I was good enough for the NCAA, at an equivalent educational-quality school, I would have gone without a second thought. Same would hold true today.

Well it's not supposed to be semi-pro. And personally I find almost any level of competition compelling so long as I have an emotional investment in one team or the other.

Jones cup is an annual tournament in Taiwan, different years have different teams but typically it stands as a tuneup/practice time for Asian national teams like Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Iran, Philippines, etc. Often teams are invited from Russia, America or Canada, these teams are fun because they provide different styles of play.

Often times some of the teams are dudes hunting for overseas contracts, the taem has some NCAA, D-league and NBL players on it

Speaking of the Jones Cup and in relation with this thread, Taiwan and Japan's NTs who are currently playing in this year's JC are their Universiade squads. Taiwan's Kyle Barone is not for the Universiade as a sidenote.
