Example is Lin being a reserve where this year's squad lacked a capable scorer off the bench. This is to sustain production when Liu Cheng, Chou Yi-Hsiang and Chen Ying-Chun goes to the bench. Veterans do have value in international play, but this is not to suggest that TPE must bank on Chih-Chieh's generation forever.

Eddie Tsai recently published an article about a 34 man TPE NT pool that is clustered in three classifications for players:

    Veteran Mentors (Tien Lei etc)
    Active Players (Liu Cheng etc)
Prospects (Wu Pei-Chia, Jonah Morrison etc)

Under Eddie's "generational" TPE NT pool, TPE A can tap two veteran mentors, stock the team with active players and reserve three spots for prospects to gain experience. Let's face it, there's not that many players for TPE that are NT quality from the SBL ranks. TPE B aka Universiade was literally scraping the barrel for their current roster.
    THis is a promising idea.
I shouldn't be so fast criticize bringing in veterans, but when i talk to fans around here people always clamour for the old guys to come back. THis country LOVES basketball, all the young people in Taipie love it, it is clearly the number one sport. Somehow, someway I just want to see that get turned into actual ballers.

To Reamily, Q definitely covers up a lot of issues on this team. Him and Tseng are relied on so heavily

The Universiade 2017 NT has better sets and discipline compared to what we saw in the Asia Cup. The main difference? A foreign coach in Charlie Parker, who actually knows how to conduct drills to instill a cohesive mentality. Chou Jun-San was more of a free-flowing style of coach to be honest.

9 TPE players in the CBA so far. Would be interesting if all of them would be called to the NT come November and so forth. Most important are Liu Cheng, Chen Ying-Chun, Chou Yi-Hsiang and Hu Long-Mao. Vets like Wen-Ting and Chih-Chieh are more of a second priority now but still would be great if they get their release.

Only 3 of the 9 CBA players from Taiwan are playing in Window 1: Liu Cheng, Chou Yi-hsiang and Hu Long-mao (Kevin Hu).

Yang Chin-min (16.0 ppg) and Tien Lei (10.0 ppg) are both having career seasons in the CBA so far. But when invitations were extended, they were like "We are injured". The really injured player is Chen Ying-chun (Ray Chen), averaging 10.1 ppg in his rookie season before breaking his left hand. The other rookie Chou Yi-hsiang is really struggling (3.7 ppg 27%FG despite 20 min/game).

How about Lin Chih Chieh who is also playing in the CBA this season? He is part of the CT pool but is not part of the final-12 man roster at least for the Taiwan-Australia game

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. He announced his retirement from FIBA after the 2015 campaign. He got married in 2015 and has 3 babies by now (the first 2 are twins). I believe he's also injured right now.

Good to see Chang Tsung-Hsien playing good minutes despite bottled. One thing though, he seem to have lost the ability to shoot threes whereas his younger days, he can pull up and drain that transition three. If added to the NT, Chang could be another Chou Yi-Hsiang who drives and finishes on open breaks.

Last time I remember Chang playing for TPE was 2012.

                        2nd window roster:

                        G - Chou Yi-hsiang (CBA), Chen Ying-chun (CBA), Su I-chieh, Yu Huan-ya, Lee Kai-yan
                        F - Hu Long-mao (CBA), Chou Po-hsun, Huang Tsung-han, Chang Po-sheng
C - Quincy Davis, Lee Te-wei, Lin Chih-wei, Jonah Morrison

Compared to the first window roster, the backcourt is probably a little stronger with the inclusion of Chen Ying-chun who had an impressive CBA debut season. Su I-chieh is also considered better than Chiang Yu-an and Lee Kai-yan. The forward position is however weaker because of "injuries". Some injuries are real, but some players apparently don't want to play. The game against Australia in Melbourne is especially pointless.

Morrison is a 17-year-old, 203cm Eurasian kid with somewhat decent potential, but he hasn't played in anything remotely competitive, especially at his position. He is set to join the University of British Columbia team in Canada this fall. He's obviously going to suck against bruising men, but it's wise to include him here for development purposes, especially when so many don't want the opportunity.

Didn't know Jonah Morrison is going to UBC, that's a decent Canadian school. Probably even better than some D1 schools in America. Should help him develop.

Doesn't that college team have a 7-feet African?

Anyway, this team overachieved in the Asian Games. A bit of luck is involved, but "Ray" Chen Ying-chun and Liu Cheng showed they are elite Asian players. However, when the starting C is 198cm, guards can only carry it so far. Wu Tai-hao, Tseng Wen-ting and Quincy Davis are all approaching the late 30s.

The team's next major tournament seems to be 2021 Asia Cup.
